(PUK) New Hondata S300 & Hel Braided Brake Hoses

Post by NafemanNathan » Tue Feb 07, 2012 3:44 pm

I'm definitely finding it a lot easier to find time to work on the car, when the part I'm working on is inside ;-)

Over the weekend I managed to sort my peak/hold to saturated injector conversion. Being my new injectors are saturated I need to do away with the resistor box, and simply splice the wires back together. This is because peak/hold injectors run at much lower ohms (up to 4 ohms) than saturated (between 10-15 ohms).

Being I'm doing a whole host of harness adaptations I'm very conscious of the fact I don't want to tempt any wiring issues, so if I can help it, I don't want to cut any wires I don't have to. (... Until I know it's all working as it should). So in this circumstance I decided to simply cut off the resistor plug and use that to splice the wires back together, as shown...

My first ever soldering attempt :? Think I used a little too much solder  ...

This way as well, if ever I decide to go back to peak/hold injectors I can simply remove this converted plug and plug back in another resistor box. I imagine this would also work as an immobiliser if ever I had to park her up somewhere for a prolonged period ;)

Then I had to splice in the new injector pig tails. Again a fairly straight forward cut and splice. I just made sure the lengths worked out at equal increments (unlike before), so as they looked decent when plugged in...

Don't worry, the rest of the harness under the fuel rail, will be out of sight ;)

I also managed to reduce the slack I previously had in the loom right down. Again, I haven't cut any wires for now, but once I know it's all working, I'll probably remove it again and cut out all the excess...

Image

And then as I said before... Here's the new brains...

And a little something to help in the stopping department...

Same little mod I've done on my resistor box, I bought a spare to snip so I have my old one as a spare in the future. Sold the spare box part on separately to a Civic H22 conversion as they have to splice it in anyway.

harness is looking great mate, you're definitely tempting me now!

Nice Hondata too.
They've changed the box since my one. I did take my S300 for a blast to get to Japfest with Kel's old ludes map, it is awesome! Had a good play with the software too including some datalogging. Great bit of kit.

You considered running a wideband at all to keep an eye on things? You can also wire back to your S300 for safeguarding and datalogging to help your tuner.

Cheers,

Rob

I don't know Rob, removing all that unwanted clutter quite does it for me ;-)

I figured if I need to get a replacement resistor box I'd pay for it then as aposed to now when I may not even use it :P Didn't think about selling on for an H22 conversion actually. Though to be honest, I have so many bits and pieces, I'm waiting until I have the garage sorted, so I can organise it all properly and do one big hit on here and ebay

Yeah, i wasn't expecting that Hondata box either. Used to be just blue right?

Not actually thought about wideband at all. Not even sure where I'm going to locate the ECU yet. So many options now ;-)
