i have a mate who had a crash in an old lotus cortina doing a rally out in ireland a fair few years ago, went off the road and hit a tree head on. his nickname is BFR it stands for big fat r____. anyway he weighed about 25 stone at the time and his harness just sheared off looking like somebody had cut through it with a blowtorch. incidently he walked away to crash another day

Had a quick look in my boot today.. you will have a problem in a 5th gen... looks like you might have to cut some metal and plastic away.. i still got some trim in my car.. (trying to keep it tidy..ish) so cant see how the metal part is attached to the car.. if its welded or bolted..

*Edit and i see theres no point have another brace.. as they both wont work together..

you cant wrap a harness around what you have but if you just want a strut brace yes you are fine with what you have.
i have alexs car booked in tomorrow i will investigate your concerns when i make a jig off his car (he doesn't know about this part of the plan so shhhh)
