Officially classic / It's all gone full circle

Well driving home tonight, the (admittedly freshly waxed) lude literally stopped two guys dead in their tracks, both pointed and one of thems jaw nearly fell off!
As I've waffled on here before, I used to have a sixties Mustang and was kinda used to getting reactions in that, but I sold that ten years ago and slowly over those years I've noticed people starting to take more notice of the lude.
Just last week though a young guy stopped me to ask 'how many were left', and say how great it looked and about his mum's 94 skyline that she wishes she hadn't sold etc, that just made me feel old but was nice nonetheless, but today's reaction really gave me the driving-a-classic vibe again.

i no what your saying and its that very reason i have ended up keeping my lude my first plan was to put it back together mot it and move it on but i feel in love with it and now its a keeper and now i have got another one

I love the looks I got with my lude, plus it's sounds awesome and always draws attention. GOD I miss having it on the road

When I was on a track day in my bb1 a couple
of years ago, my friend's mum turned up in
her Aston Martin V8 Vantage to spectate.

She only had eyes for my lude, as she had one
when they first came out & absolutely loved
it.

I've found that having an old(er) rare car tends to generate a lot of interest.... if it's in really good condition, even more so!

I think people like to see stuff that's been well cared for over a long period of time, like there's a real appreciation of that and people want to ask you about it much more than they would if it was something new and/or expensive. Scary thing for me is now restoring a 'classic car' (with classic car insurance!) that was the 'current model' when I first owned one!

@vtectom You've reminded me of something that happened with the muzzie - went out to a local pub for lunch one lovely sunny day, all the nice cars were out and there was literally one space left in the car park...next to a gleaming new Ferrari. It had about six youngsters round it taking photos on their phones and you could tell who the owner was as he was sat near it on his own in the pub garden, with a big grin on his face.
I carefully parked my cheap 40 year old Ford next to it and all the kids went 'WOAH' and slid over from his car to mine.
I was a bit embarrassed TBH, but the look on the smiley guys face was proper which made me and the Mrs

I must say I've never bought a car (or anything) for others attention, it actually took some getting used to when I first got the Mustang as everyone was letting me out and journeys would take longer as people wanted to talk about it etc, which is nice of course. However, seeing the ludes slowly start to have a similar effect is quite heart warming, I honestly do look back at it when I park up, even after 15 years of owning it and still think it's just a great car, regardless of badge that's on it / spec / whatever. You hope that those people discovering them just now will be the owners of the future and will seek them out.

Last year I was driving my Lude around the Norwich ring road and stopped at a set of traffic lights.
I noticed a young guy running from a few hundred yards away down a side road and wondered why.
When he got to my car he game me a thumbs up and gave it a good look was running just to get a close look of my Lude before the lights changed.

I've had similar experiences to those mentioned with a guy recently coming up to me in our local supermarket car park and giving praise to how nice my Lude is and what fantastic condition for its age etc etc, but I would like to echo BennyBoy's comment "I honestly do look back at it when I park up, even after 15 years of owning it and still think it's just a great car" I still do that with mine and I've had it nearly 20 years.

Come to think of it, mines about to hit its 25th Birthday, a shout out on Lude Gen will have to be made on her special day me thinks......

Recently I took the Lude for it's ITV (Spanish MOT, not the emerdale channel) and two guys approached me while I was there. First an Englishman asking me if it was for sale and that his wife would kill him if he didn't buy it. The second a local dude asking me what the hell it was haha. I don't think as many were sold over here as in the UK due to the dominance of french/german makes.

These cars can only go up from here people!
