Start off trying some 10w40 & see if that makes any difference. If not, may be worth getting your cooling system flushed & refilled. There might not be enough summer coolant/antifreeze in there. Or it might just be really old. It's worth doing this every 2 years or 20-30,000 miles anyway. When was it last done?
