Tyres from supplier in Germany

Post by vanzep » Tue Jun 17, 2014 8:13 pm

Ive been looking at buying a set of new tyres and was considering toyos or something similar price around £65 per tyre. (205/50/16)
A set of uniroyal rainsport 2's have been listed on ebay at the same price as the toyos so i would like to go for them instead. Only problem is they from a supplier in Germany and ive never bought from abroad. Normally i would stick to UK suppliers such as camskill or tyretraders but the price from the German supplier is about £20 cheaper per tyre than i can find in UK so its a worthwhile saving.
Has anyone had any experience of buying tyres from abroad - pros and cons :)

Yep. They have Rainsport 2 in 205/50/16 at £66, or the Rainsport 3 in 205/55/16 for £59.

Just go by their feedback. It won't make any odds to them whether you're in the UK or Germany, like it doesn't make any difference to me when I go to the post office or arrange a courier to ship something to somewhere in Europe... It just costs a bit more and they usually have a funny name ;)

Be careful, as some tyres have different compounds (even if they have the same name), depending on where in the world they are sold, which are more suited for the climate in the country of sale.

and you need to be careful about date codes, you don't want to buy a tyre that's been kicking around for a decade or so.
