Lightweight Battery or OEM Battery relocation to boot

Which one do you guys recommend, a lightweight battery (like Odyssey) or relocating battery to the boot.. ?

Battery relocating will allow me to keep the main battery in the boot so I can have a full ICE in the car running but then it's all wires and relocating that can be a pain in the arse.

Lightweight battery sounds easier as I already have the small mount to completely tuck it away (where the resonator box would be) but then how long does small batteries last? Can you have all your ICE running in the car while the car is on? Does it need to be charged frequently as sometimes I don't drive my car in over two weeks.

Thoughts?

I have never used lightweight batteries so I can't say. I have toyed with the idea of relocating the battery to the boot before and I think it would be the best option.
The battery is so far over the front axle and to one side. It seems more important to redistribute the weight than try to reduce it.
Also if you want to have ICE, the bigger the battery the better.

"Light Weight" batteries aren't designed to cope with ICE. You may be able to run a basic stereo system at best.

Remember, if you relocate your regular battery to the boot to seal it in a battery box. I never did when I did mine, and I had no problems, but just in case

I moved the oem to the boot. Better for ice and better for weight. Like nath says, put it in a box. You need a tube going out from the box through one of the grommeted holes in the chassis to vent fumes.

Interesting topic. I was planing on relocating the OEM one to the boot for aesthetic reasons for me however a fair point re the weight over the front axle. However your saying the amount of wires? Surely your only having to run 1 positive and one negative to the engine bay?
Also battery box? Haven't heard of one anyone have any pics of this completed with a box?

You'll have to run a starter motor live as well as the fuse box stuff to the front.

Not sure if I've misinterpreted you Paul, but you don't need to run two lives from the battery in the boot, just run one to the starter.

Oem battery weights 18kg.

Stinger SPV44 car audio battery weights 12kg and mine is in the spare wheel well now.

Just wanted to ask rather than opening new threads.

What wires are you using for the main positive? What size fuse as well?

Gathering all the materials so I can do this when I have a week off soon.
