Re: Spare-O-Deck 1989
That's what I'm hoping as it's the part I was most annoyed about as it's a good part to have as a spare for the mint one!wurlycorner wrote:Arseholes
Sorry about that
Hopefully the lock flap trim piece that's damaged is the same as other Honda's that age, so it's not quite so hard to track down replacements?
On a better note we've ordered a set of over fenders that should arrive this week or next for the spare... Along with a set of 15x8et0 steels
Not sure whether to go satin black on them, or do them NATO green though.
However the wheels won't be here til mid-late September and kind of need new tyres now
Re: Spare-O-Deck 1989
Well, this thread will be even more quiet than usually for a while...
Replacement/repair wouldn't be cost effective.
Yes, I did cry. Like, actually cry (it doesn't happen often). I was utterly devastated - as much as I'll try to joke about it. It may have just been a spares car but I bloody loved this green heap!
I've been promised that it can stay alive though - but it will be living a different kind of life. There is a plan in place, which will also teach me many new things and most likely test my patience too, that we are to turn it into a track/drift day car. Yes. RWD conversion.
It's a while off yet though as I need to finish my silver one and Bruce needs to get his Navara on the road too. But hopefully it's not a pipedream and we'll get there within a year or two!

If you want to go the route of a relatively easy RWD conversion, do a motorbike engine conversion in the rear (plenty of space) and get in touch with West Wales Trike Shack for one of their axles. Honda Fireblade engine in the back (to keep it Honda), LSD, relocate the fuel tank to the front (the pipework will already be there), and replace the small rear quarterlight windows with air ducting. Job done!

You can get a block that you can build a Gixer V8 from.

Re: Spare-O-Deck 1989
The plan is hopefully SR20, easy to get hold of, easy to get parts... And I know where an S14 is sitting (that is probably not able to go on the road again, hasn't ever been SORN and been sat in the same place for 10+ years) to get the harder parts from! Unfortunately S14 had 2 engines - but neither are in the car and both are totally in bits and most likely with many missing / broken parts
Reason it will probably never be on the road is the owner is a friend of a friend and purchase may mean he ends up with a very large charge for never SORNing it, but does mean it's worth peanuts to buy and break

Doesn't work that way.becca wrote:may mean he ends up with a very large charge for never SORNing it
If they were going to fine him, it would have already happened (a couple of months after the last time it was taxed/last SORN expired).
Also, if it was already off the road/tax expired before SORN started, then no worries anyway - it wasn't retrospective. My Sunny and one of my CX's aren't SORN'd, because they were off the road then. I moved and sent off the V5 for a change of address and they've stayed that way (not SORN'd and no nasty letters etc.).
So seriously, if that the main reason why the thinking is the car won't go back on the road, then the car should be making it back onto the road!
