Rear ARB Bush Size
I need to replace my rear ARB bushes, but, every site I look on shows the inner size of the bush as being 23mm. However, there's no way a 23mm bush is wide enough for the lip to cover the carrier, and the bushes that came off the car have a 35mm inner width.
So, who's the fool; every supplier of rear ARBs for the Prelude, or me?
Edit/update - it would appear that my Prelude has wider stabiliser brackets, probably "uprated" at some point, and therefore had wider bushes as shown in the picture. Another trip to Honda, 2 new brackets ordered.

Id say the bush you have removed is an old knackered es poly bush which comes with its own bracket and is bigger than the oem bush
so to fit the strongflex ones you will need a set of two oem roll bar clamps and possibly some new bolts if the old ones are a bit knackered
i may have some if you need

I ordered the new clamps from Honda, not too expensive at £26 a pair, and thankfully the bolts were all in good condition as whomever had taken them off did grease them. Oddly, the bushes that came off were quite cheap looking/feeling, they certainly weren't poly, they were the standard cheap rubber type and were heavily perished.vanzep wrote: ↑Fri Jan 25, 2019 2:33 pmId say the bush you have removed is an old knackered es poly bush which comes with its own bracket and is bigger than the oem bush

More annoyingly, I couldn't spend the day putting the suspension back together. So, I thought I'd do the rocker cover instead, then realised that I did have new rocker bolt washers; £50 lighter from Honda, but they won't be here until next week! All good fun with cars..........

ok bud sounds like youve got it sorted - the reason i said it was possibly an es poly bush is that you can see there is a hole in it - your meant to use that to grease them up every 12 months - oem and strongflex bushes dont have that feature
always worth getting genuine honda rocker cover washers imo - less chance of leaking - just dont overtighten them - go with torque spec in manaual and then recheck it and maybe tighten a smidge more after youve done a few miles

That was the give-away, it didn't look quite right so I looked at the OEM clamp and worked out that the bushes and clamp were both not OEM.
Did you use any specific sealant for the rocker cover, and did you do a bead all around?

No bead all round, you just do it in a couple of corners - the oem service manual says where to do it.
The recommended sealant to use is Hondabond (you can get it from Honda, or places like H-Tune or eBay) but you can also use Wellseal (I did that because I already had some)

I've downloaded the manual from this site, other than torque settings for the rocker bolts it doesn't tell me anything else at all. The PDF isn't searchable as it's made up of images rather than text.....wurlycorner wrote: ↑Fri Jan 25, 2019 7:14 pmNo bead all round, you just do it in a couple of corners - the oem service manual says where to do it.

Im using this as a low cost alternative to honda bond @ £1.98 per tube
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Grey-Gasket- ... 2749.l2649
Like wurly says you just use it at the edge of any corners of the rocker cover including the cam cut outs
ive had quite a few goes at this over the years and i think the main thing is not to overtighten the cover as this crushes the gasket and leads to leaks further down the line - for me this job has always been hit&miss as i normally tighten things down as far as they will go

You want the first supplement (covers H22) illustration on page 6-3 shows the places to put the sealant and the torque specs.EddieMunster wrote: ↑Fri Jan 25, 2019 7:43 pmI've downloaded the manual from this site, other than torque settings for the rocker bolts it doesn't tell me anything else at all. Otherwise you follow the relevant parts within the Cylinder Head Removal and Installation instructions (rocker cover removal/refit is covered within those).
