Take it out of the car, remove all the casings so you can see the innards, give it power and try to load a CD. See what happens, it should be fairly apparent what the issue is.
It'll be a wire, the motor, a slipped gear, bent arm or a piece of toast.
Failing that, take it to an electronics repair shop ( I'd say TV and VCR repair, but they don't seem to exist anymore. )
Congratulations to vtecmec for winning May/June's Lude Of The Month, with his DIY Turbo BB1 build.

Advice needed - CD stuck in Gathers player 5th Gen
Well that was easy getting the cd player and radio out of the 5th gen.
I thought i would replace it with a single din radio/cd player that Merlin took out of his ukdm 5th but oh no it is a completely different connector and must be one of these jdm vs ukdm problems
honestly whats with 5th gens i had to buy a steering rack gaiter and went onto lings - two different part numbers one for each side...that seemed odd but i bought the correct one for ukdm model thinking it would be same for jdm but oh no - mechanic said it was a fair bit longer than torn boot that he took off - still got it fitted...but i hate these sort of issues.

Your replacement head unit probably has an ISO connector whereas the car has the Honda specific connector - not sure 5th gens ever came with the ISO connector (the jap manufacturers were among the last to introduce them). You can buy plug in convertors easy and cheap enough.

finally got things fixed - so went for single din unit (thanks to Merlin who let me have this gratis out of his old 5th gen) and did a bit of cf wrap on the surround.
