Other tyre firms also reckon the better tyres should be on the back. Something to do with it being easier to adjust to the change in characteristics when the new tyres are on. (Patronise your customers, why don't you?)
I don't agree, even with RWD. I'd like the front brakes and the steering to have the best tyres available. And I'd rather a rear tyre blew than a front one.

I drove to work in my truck with a completely flat rear tyre a few weeks back

I thought the back end was twitchy, especially on roundabouts, but just assumed it was the wet weather. The back end was properly going for it though and I was constantly having to correct it

In hindsight I should have pulled over at the earliest opportunity

RE putting your 'best' (least likely to puncture) tyres at the back - is the potential benefit in a blow out worth the potential lack of traction the other 99.9% of the time, or are we assuming that provided a tyre has legal tread then the difference in traction between new and worn is negligible?

i would always put the best tyres on the front for both rwd and fwd vehicles i have had tyres blow out on me and it was so much easier to come to a controlled stop if the blowout is a rear tyre
