Re: Buying A Prelude
Well the car I currently have has about 70 bhp so anything would be faster, as far as the tree thing goes I actually remove the back seats so that I don't have to give people lifts, so it's always gonna be 2 XDwurlycorner wrote:Insurance on a lude vtec will be horrendous for an 18 year old.
Merc and newkid have both owned 2.0 5g's (the same one in fact) and 2.2's, so they will know what they're talking about in terms of living with the 2.0.
Several other people on here also have 2.0 ludes and are very happy with them. It'll be plenty quick enough for an 18 year old IMO so go for it I reckon.
As Sailor says, mx5 and lude are very different cars, so not easy to compare.
I guess one way of looking at it is do you fancy ending up going backwards into a tree with just your gf, or going in forwards with gf and up to 2 other friends also in the car...

Re: Buying A Prelude
You could try the 2.3 as I had 1 at 19 and had no issue with insurance companies however that was 13 years ago ( that made me feel old lol)

I used to own 2 2.0i bb3 Preludes. Great engine.
Insurance on a 2.2 wasn't much more. Infact my old 1.5 lsi Civic coupe was the same to insure as my 2.0i lude. When I changed to a Type S on the same policy, ukdm 2.0i to jdm Type S with declared mahle pistons it went up £300...that's it.
You would spend that on mods to get 5 bhp out of a 2.0i.
