I flooded my engine in my van. 2.0 diesel tdi vw. It died. But I used a whole can of brake cleaner sprayibg into the engine to start it after emptying the intercooler of water and it started.......eventually.

I was lucky I didn't throw a rod.

Long arm inlet tracts, eh.

We have puddles near us I can take the Lude through, but not the ATR. I'm keeping the panel filter in the 5G!

I remember I had an long arm induction kit on my ek9. Driving home from Wales one evening in 2010 and the rain was dreadful. Decided rather than risking it I pulled into the next services and sat and waited a good 4 or 5 hours till the rain stopped and ponds started disappearing...I was so bored and fed up I nailed it the rest of the way

I now know it sits very low - directly behind the passenger side front wheel. Might of been better knowing that before rather than after the incident!

Crap luck, sorry to hear that.
Same as you though, I've been in an EP3 and (petrol) FN2 and was utterly unimpressed. No guts in comparison to a lude.

:? Behind the front wheel? :?
That sounds like a jobby place to put it anyway? Behind the wheel it's always going to get crap thrown at it? Should be in front of the front wheels so it gets clean air, surely?!

Best place is Landy style up the A pillar to the roof. You will drown before the engine fails. Maybe best if you get the bill!
I have kleptomania,
But when it gets bad,
I take something for it.

Sorry. Meant in front of. Obviously 'protected' by arch lining bu . Not from what comes in from front lower grille. Reading his build thread on Civinfo he has managed to secure a fellow members engine as they are upgrading to a K24. He is now not talking to me as he had a bit of a go at me on Sunday, I asked what he'd have done differently and he said slower. Didn't take kindly when I said the only difference would have been that he would still have been in the flood and at least I got clear! Not heard a peep since! :x

Did he tell you to go slower at the time? If not he can shut it! It's his car, he should have known where the intake was!

Haha. There were several variables. We are all to blame one way or another. He fitted the intake himself so knew exactly where it was situated. He will come round eventually - we always was a scapegoat when something happens!
