Wiggz, what's the way to start it off? Use heat, or just yank on a corner? And if heat, how much heat (hairdryer, heat gun etc.)
:? It's the heated rear window elements I'm most scared shitless of ruining :scaredtoss:

With a tint on our old cars there's no right or wrong way to start as unfortunately the heated elements are going to be brittle.
A bit of light heating would be best to allow you to slowly remove it but there no way of guaranteeing no damage to the elements. Once you have that off then you want to used a tar and glue remover such as autosmart tardis

Thanks Wiggz
But  does sound risky then

Actually, it's a good job this was brought up now, 'cause I hadn't considered the impact for the MOT...

The rear window tint is drokked - bubbled/blistered in lines all over. You can see drokk all out of the rear window - that's why I do have to remove it. I'm now wondering if this would actually be an MOT fail though? It was like it when I bought the car so must have been like it for the last mot, but that means nothing of course...

I've had a look and can't see anything definitive. The windscreen section only refers to the front windscreen, not the back.

http://www.motester.co.uk/mot-general-i ... #structure

In the mirrors section, it says this;
Applies to obligatory mirrors and "Indirect vision devices" such as cameras – and in this case the method of inspection and reason for failure will apply to both the camera and the screen. Not all mirrors or cameras etc. on all vehicles are subject to Test, depending on the age of the vehicle.

Those mirrors which must be checked must be

Secure
Visible from the driver's seat
Not distorted or damaged so as to seriously impair the driver's view to the rear
Reasons For Rejection
An obligatory mirror:
a. is missing or insecure
b. is so damaged or deteriorated that the view to the rear is seriously impaired
c. does not provide a view to the rear of the vehicle
d. is not clearly visible from the driver's seat, or incapable of being adjusted to be clearly visible from the driver's seat.

Well the mirror is fine and I can use it to see to the rear with no problem... I just can't see out of the rear

:? so will it be a fail or not? :| @thebusofwoe ?
