You need to find one that was 'NSX Approved' in the old days, like Norton Way.

There is one somewhere up your way, but I cannot recall; best ask on the usual site.

My local H stealer, Ewens of Cornhill, are pretty good. They won UK dealer of the year a few years ago, and it doesn't surprise me. Never had a problem getting bits for my BB4 there - the guy just takes the VIN to check. It is a family business of long standing, mind. My dad used to buy his Rovers off them when I was a nipper (those V8 3.5l ones, mostly).

Point being, they DO have the capability of using your import VIN constructively if they want.

Indeed.

I should have added really that my local Honda dealer are a new franchise (2 years?) whereas the previous Honda dealer in the town (different site) had been there for decades.

So they go to prove, that unlike the new Citroen dealer near me (they're a bloody awful useless Vauxhall dealer who say 'a what' when you ring them up for parts on a Xantia, so I daren't even bother trying them for a CX) it is possible to open a new dealership and be useful/knowlegeable/useful!
