Spain have a solar farm like that, a sort of tower thing with a load of mirrors spread round on the ground focusing the rays onto the tower.

There's a conventional solar panel farm planned for some farmers fields somewhere near me. Maximum height of it is 8 ft, so hidden by the hedges, but residents complaining about it

Here's a pic of the kind of thing they have in spain somewhere

This is the kind of thing I meant is planned for near me (no problems with reflection causing focused rays, because the angle of the panels is so shallow)

Less obtrusive than a wind turbine, too.

Its not like ANY of us look out on a natural landscape is it? This is just the next level of agriculture.

By harvesting the sun directly farmers are cutting out the fiddley matter of growing stuff altogether. All farming is just a controlled harvest of the suns bountiful crop of photon's after all. 150 years ago I'm sure people were up in arms about the creation of squared fields of mono crop rather than traditional multi crop rows. Progress will roll right over them now as it did back then

Flew past that badboy on the way back from holidays this year. Looks amazing from the air!

There's a (literally) brilliant solar furnace at Odeillo in France; 3500 deg C!
