What 5G Prelude should I buy.

Banter goes here, and doesn't have to be Lude related

It's my considered opinion that when it comes to handling, anyone who doesn't think 4ws is the answer probably hasn't understood the question.

It does take getting used to, though. That feeling of being "nailed down" or "secure" at the back which you get from conventional cars is simply extra drag from trying to turn a wheel sideways which is fixed straight.

(And I love RWD and oversteer, incidentally)

I paid slap bang in the middle of that for my Type-S 12 months ago. A few of the same mods, excellent body work/ underneath etc. Lowish miles.

I've never felt I over paid, more underpaid. So much bang for your buck :)

@Sam
They don't come much better than this one...

Only minor bummer is that it's an auto, but can be driven like that till the box goes and then manual swapped without too much aggro.
Fair price for that good a 5th gen.

The only issue with 5th gen UK auto's is that they only came with the 185bhp H22a5. Even the 1999+ ones.

Hahaha, those auto boxes couldn't handle the full 197bhp. My Bb6 sir auto ate it's box, and then ate it again after I sold i!

@doggo: I feel the same away about ATTS

I defo upgraded from 4WS to ATTS in my opinion. On the same chassis it makes it much better to drive hard.
6th gen Prelude please Mr Honda. RWD 2.4 turbo lude.

I've never really got the comparison of 4WS and ATTS TBH.
Sure, they are both driver 'aids', and they are both a bit unusual in the car market, but I find ATTS much more akin to LSD's for comparison, in terms of what they actually affect. Simplying?, yes, but I'm sure you catch my drift. Or lack of it... :? ;)

I for one love my 4WS, but I love a well sorted 2WS lude too. At the end of the day, it's what YOU want and how/where YOU'RE going to drive your car that should determine what you buy. I'd like my car a bit lower too, but for where I live and where I drive, I just couldn't get away with it.

The biggest problem with 4WS (and maybe ATTS for that matter) in my honest opinion is people's lack of understanding about it. That, and most times people drive a car with it, it's 15-20 years old and hasn't been maintained. You can get away with that on most parts of a car, but not on something as game changing as 4WS.
That said, it's not a complicated system. It's a rack and an ecu at the end of the day.
I harp on, but I know of one genuine 4WS fault and it's fixed with a soldering iron in about an hour, like the main relay issue, and that doesn't stop people buying a lude does it. The back-end-is-trying-to-kill-me scare stories are usually down to worn bushes, ARB issues or geo issues, all of which a 4WS car will show up. Along with ABS sensors etc. Hell, even a blown rear bulb will set the 4WS light off!

ATTS has it's place, car manufacturers still use torque transfer systems under various guises.
4WS has it's place, Porsche for instance saw fit to put an IDENTICALLY working system on their latest hypercar.

Is it for you? Only you know. Drive good examples of both and see what you think. :)

Incidentally, this is by no means directed at you LLL or anyone in particular, just waffling on a theme. :) 8-)
