Not watched it yet.
I've also never owned a pug, so have absolutely no allegiance to them.
But yep, as Phil says - who's ever seen a rusty 405, 205, 306, 309, 106, 406 (I could keep going - the point is, they don't! At all!)?
Also engines, drive train and suspension are absolutely bullet proof, whereas Ford/Vauxhall crap from the same era have long since rusted away and either burnt (Ford) or leaked (Vauxhaull) jobby-loads of oil because the engines are jobby.
And that's not to mention that Ford and Vauxhall's from the same era drove and handled like absolute dogs as well, whereas Pug's have always been good.
Everyone also seems to have conveniently forgotten how appallingly badly built and styled the interiors of equivalent era Fords were. Lovely wrinkly bleached plastic on the A pillar staring straight at you as soon as you get in. Tasty! And such lovely comfy totally un-supportive cheap foam seats. Mmmmm...
It's great to jump on the easy popularist bandwagon.
No problems at all viewing it as mild amusement (I'm sure I'll find it funny when I watch it) but please do keep rolling on the comments from everyone that's never actually owned a Pug but 'knows' they're jobby...
Takes guts to put your head over the parapet and look at things differently sometimes
FWIW, Citroen used much better interior plastics in general and I have always generally hated some of the plastic that Peugeot used. The worst thing about my new C5? The steering wheel and lower dash... They're drawn straight from a pug 205. Look and feel cheap and nasty (but strangely also thick and durable, if that makes sense
)

Tickytacky bum droppings
There is a good reason you never see a rusty one. DISPOSABLE
. They never hang about long enough to rust. people scrap them and buy another one because they are crappy and not worth the bother. You drive it into the ground.
@wurly: watch the episode.
They spend a good long time singing the praise of peugeot and the most of the pi$s take is towards the people who decide to own a new peugeot now. Its just classic topgear.

Yeah, someone was going to buy it, but they changed their mind as they got to the till so wedged it behind the 'next customer please' signs.wurlycorner wrote:Abandoned in a supermarket?

the 405 petrol engines had weak head gaskets the ecu's weren't too clever on the 306's either but they always looked good i have seen a few with rust but nowhere near as bad as other makes of equivalent age or younger

The 205 gti is a truly iconic car and the 306 d turbo is the reason diesel cars are so popular now.
