Opinions wanted - Best all round diesel car for around 2K ?
I had the 106 diesel, not a bad car for the £400 i paid.
They do chomp through alternators though.

Skoda Fabia vrs, golf gt tdi, Audi a3 or a4 tdi s line, slightly out of you price rang but you could find earlier models. Me personally .. E46 320d would be the best bet. Plenty in your price range. More of a chilling car. Got one and I'm after another.
I have a peugeot 306 1.9 TDI, grate on fuel I went up to essex from southampton with a full car and was speeding a bit ( all the way) and it cost me £30 in total to get ther and back, I know most people hate peugeots but just try one, as for being slow mine has been played with and is running 211 bhp shes fast for a diesel but also grate on fuel so I get the best of both worlds
What's all been done to it to achieve that figure?? That's crazy, bordering unbelievable. Must have had a good few £k thrown at it.big damo wrote:I have a peugeot 306 1.9 TDI, grate on fuel I went up to essex from southampton with a full car and was speeding a bit ( all the way) and it cost me £30 in total to get ther and back, I know most people hate peugeots but just try one, as for being slow mine has been played with and is running 211 bhp shes fast for a diesel but also grate on fuel so I get the best of both worlds

Company might be defunct but many engine/suspension components shared with Vectra and excellent parts distribution still guaranteed.

The XUD engines are indestructable and sure do go well in TD guise.I have a peugeot 306 1.9 TDI
Never, ever seen a rusty 106, 306, 406, Saxo, ZX or Xsara either (unlike many of the alternatives).

Super Secret 1G (not really super secret!)
Thats because the French use galvanised panels on a lot or their cars.wurlycorner wrote:Never, ever seen a rusty 106, 306, 406, Saxo, ZX or Xsara either (unlike many of the alternatives).
Something a lot of other brands should think about (Honda, I'm looking at you).
