Does my car have a dodgy mot??

Banter goes here, and doesn't have to be Lude related

The other thing to remember is that an MOT is actually only valid on the day at the time it was tested. If something goes wrong after that, it's of mno concern to the tester. I was told this by VOSA after they done a roadside check on an old Calibra of mine a week after the MOT and found several faults. They made me get them fixed, PAY for a new MOT and produce it to them.

In short, Reporting it would be pertty much a waste of time.

Plus, as said before, Friendly MOT testers are hard to find and a great asset when you have rides likle ours ;)

What right would VOSA have to make you pay for a new mot when your car had a valid one already? I don't get that part at all?

As with the post above: the MoT shows only legal roadworthiness at the time of the test. If the car's not compliant after that, it should be fixed and re-tested.
There are cases of VOSA and/or police asking you to merely prove you've fixed the faults they found. (A good example might be that iffy tyre.) Perhaps in your case the re-test was because they found 'several' faults.

I've also just thought as well, that if the ABS light comes on and stays on, it's a fail. If the light doesn't come on, and the tester knows the car has ABS, it's only an advisory (go figure?)

Check to see if there was an advisory about it on the last MOT, that'll let you know how dodgy an MOT it had.
