:? why is the mitzi shogun sport so cheap?

07 plates with 80k for 5 grand... what gives?

The trooper is harder to find now I'm looking a bit more cashmoney. They are topping out about a grand less than I am looking at the moment. A 200/2001 Landcruiser colorado or a gen3 Surf are the current searches.

To be honest research has shown me that with no center dif the isuzu is only good for 2wd towing and 4wd on tarmac is likely to eat your gerbox and when you have livestock the extra two wheels involved makes a big difference I think.
The main stumble at the moment is the fulltime 4x4 of the colorado. I like the idea of switching to 2wd for daily driving and field drifting

Dunno if this helps, but... My ex's dad was a part time mechanic. He used to swear about shogun pajero's all the time, being unreliable pieces of jobby.

Have you considered petrol? Only reason I ask is thay my mate has a had a petrol sport and the newer diesel he reckons the diesel wasnt that much better on juice.

@wurly: fragile is what I hear. Good if you are a norm but a little bit prone to snapping. I think the prices speak for themselves

@phil: We are buying it to tow and the only petrol engines with the grunt to pull 2.3 ton are gonna eat fuel like its candyfloss I would have thought? Otherwise I would have a petrol in a moment. Plus if I get an older oil burner I can do just that. Find a local wholeseller of Veg oil and away we go. You blaze that trail and I'm happy to follow.

The only thing that puts me off spending 3-4K on a 4x4 is that I would feel terrible doing stuff like this to a car of that value:

Otherwise I'd love a newer wagon :)

It's horses for courses though - if you're not going to be chucking jobby in the back of your truck, and not going to be driving it regularly in places that the exterior will get beaten up then there's no reason not to go for something a bit smarter/more expensive.

@jj: I am with you mate no fear. The thing is its going to be towing her ponies and it needs to be that level more reliable and a bit more modern on the safety. I would be fine in an older car blieve me but when i think about the missis on the side of a busy road with two ponies in serious summer heat I kinda think its worth the extra 2k for peace of mind. It will be used and abused as a crew vehicle through out the summer and be full of horse kit and saddles the rest so its basically going to get wrecked  but atleast I'll know its me that started the wrecking :o
I really liked the bighorn the other day and if I could find one in mint cond I would look again but the amount of work it could do and just coming to basic stuff like the age of the rubber in the bushes with over 2 ton on the back makes it a numbers decision, not a what I might like decision.
If I was buying a truck for a trucks sake i think i would already have a bighorn on the drive

@donald... :nono: toy cars are not for this thread.

Useless for towing ponies but unbelievably good at going offroad. A damn site better than most of the heavyweights.
