If you didnt declare that its an import, when it is.. means it will be invalid insurance. Which also means that if you were to be involved in an accident, if it were you're fault the poor sod you hit wouldnt be able to claim as you wouldnt have any insurance (void certificate basically)

dont be silly, just insure it as it is or buy a UKDM.

That's not quite true either. The Insurers will most likely have to pay third party damages under the RTA, but they could pursue you to get their money back, so kiss goodbye to a new car and a nice house if you have a £20k writ against you.

Yeah but still Shiny, you just declare it as it is...

My car is fully declared as modified. Anything i do to it, goes straight on the insurance (mainly because the traffic police are so so anal round here its retarded) i even declared both my strut bars and 2ws conversion (yes there that anal!)

More then anything, its peace of mind!!!

Yeah peace of mind wins overall. Insure it for what it is and nothing can go wrong.

I have a question...

My girlfriend is selling her Xsara as she's seen an Impreza she likes for sale locally. Problem is it's an import, and the V5C doesn't even state so much as a model, it's just registered as a Subaru. Not a problem in itself, but the fact is I have no clue what model of Impreza it is, as there are so many different versions. The problem is compounded by the fact the owner is Italian and speaks only broken English  so what can I tell the insurer when I get a quote?? I don't actually know what car it is and I don't really have a way of finding out

Get the vin number, take it to a scooby-do dealer and ask them what model it is?

Only problem is I don't know the VIN :( I could go look at the car again tomorrow I guess and see if it's on the wind screen. There are no Subaru dealers nearby though, I'd have to go to Robertsbridge...

Even then, I wonder if they could tell me what was factory fitted on the car. It has gold Speedline alloys and a Tommy Kaira body kit, which the seller reckons is because it's a limited edition - I'm not so sure but what do I know :?

One thing I do know is it's fecking fast!!

But but but... If you don't know what the car is, what can you tell the insurer?? Chassis number and engine code, then just tell them everything about the car in order to cover yourself? :?

I' don't know a great deal about the Tommy cars, what i do know is that they all have a official number plaque on one of the suspension turrets, different front and rear bumpers and 16" split rims and i think there was an option of a 2.2 ltr engine conversion it should also have triple gauges mounted just above the stereo boost/oil temp etc all the dials should have red lettering on a black background and a Tommy Kaira ecu. hope this help you i also hope you have an official Tommy Kaira car and not one with just the bumpers changed.
