Being in the police for 3 1/2 years I've never ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever heard of any police officer doing anything remotely to do with decibel readings.. I don't think it exists. But then again I'm not in traffic. Any car I've ever pulled over is purely if the tax, insurance or mot has expired, anything apart from that then from mine or any other of my colleagues point of view the car is legal. Unless using a mobile phone or no seat belt, bald tyres, petty stuff like that. I will try my best to find out more information for you guys when I'm back into work. To be fair, from what you lot have seen, and heard when I was at japfest my car is fooking loud! Ive got a decat, 2-1 mani and twin chevrolette back box,It does get some looks when I pull in the yard but no one has ever said anythingjjmartin349571 wrote:That was just my understanding mate, I could be wrong thoughI thought the same applied to exhaust noise levels too, another bone of contention for some of us. Some police forces are apparently maintaining databases of decibel levels for car's based on manufacturer data, but grey zone imports wouldnt have any data available, so nothing for them to measure against..

Just google eaxhust decibel limits mate, there are a lot of threads on various forums regarding the subject. It's only a select few constabularies that have started doing it, iirc they we're doing it under construction and use regulations.kris_aka_edu wrote:Being in the police for 3 1/2 years I've never ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever heard of any police officer doing anything remotely to do with decibel readings.. Is he saying it will need to be put through a CAT test but wont fail on a CAT not being in place (as the BB6 isnt on the system).RattyMcClelland wrote:Just spoke to my MOT tester as i do bodywork for him.
Hes said a BB6 wont need a cat test. If its decat it will just go on emissions or see if there is a UK version which we checked and was only bb8. So as long as the emissions are below 3.4??? it will pass with a decat.

Out of interest then, that must be quite cheap to run? Is it the same power?
