New member requiring honda mechanic

Post by preludebas » Sat Feb 08, 2014 8:08 pm

Hello people,

Have had my prelude for a few months and require some work doing to it.

I have been told that the cam seals are leaking and was wondering how big a job it was to replace,
Is there anyone handy in Essex to help repair, i will pay obviously. i live in Basildon.

Have also purchased a rear strut brace from Ted and may need some advice on how to fit this.

Any help would be appreciated, it is a track car and i have stripped it out ready to be used at Snetterton at the end of the month.

Thanks in advance

Mark

The cam seal at the gearbox end of the head? Or seals behind the cam pulleys?

I might be able to help, can certainly take a look at it for you and let you know what I think, anyway?

Unfortunately there are no Honda specialist garages round this way, so it's either do it yourself, Honda main dealer or jozefsan in Suffolk.

Ted, yes it arrived, and thanks.

Bit shocked to see it was orange but will go nicely with my orange harnesses :D

Appreciate the offer but wiltshire is a bit of a mission from Essex but will bear it in mind,
Just after someone to have a good look round her and advise the best solution.

I though it was gearbox as the gears are notchy and need to change the oil too.
@ thebusofwoe - you free any weekends soon ?

am thinking it may be worth the trek down there

@ wurlycorner - appreciate the offer and might take you up on it

need to get the car back from my mechanic but have only been told cam seals.
Own fords and hondas are a little different to me at the minute

thanks again

No problem. We all here have great advise. ;). the best advise is from the guys that have done it before so defo the place to be. :D. regarding the 4ws, I have personally taken mine out as its going to be a fun road/ track car so imo, its not needed . If it works, then may as well leave it there bud. It is great and weird :? when used. (TBH I liked it but shhhh lol ). If I had it as a daily then id defo do everything to keep it ;) ;). Any other questions then fire away, we are all very happy to help.

If the 4WS is working, keep it and see how you get on with it - you might be surprised... ;)

If you're taking the A/C out, I'd be interested in taking the bits off you if you get them out in one piece.
