Thermal battery cover

Good idea? Bad idea?

I'm looking at buying one for mine as it's relocated to the boot, but as the boot is pretty bare it gets very cold and damp easily, killing the battery quick

Thermal battery cover

It may be that I'm out of date, but I wouldn't cover a battery without allowing it to breathe in some way.

Its more of a blanket - the idea to insulate the battery from the extremes (eg help reduce freezing in cold weather, and also insulate from engine bay heat). Probably not needed if the battery is in the boot as the boot won't get warm enough to heat the battery enough to keep it warm overnight anyway, so not much point insulating (no heat source in the boot either).

Thermal battery cover

i used some thermal wrap on my BB4 - battery was in the engine bay so it was more to keep temps down - wasnt really needed after i fitted Bri's old milano red vented bonnet and the massive Koyo radiator. It was a thickish fabric type material with reflective layer - had to glue it on to the battery and even then it didnt stick to it for very long so i removed it when i fitted a new oem battery

Really don't believe this will make any difference in UK climate. These kind of things are more for places where they have weeks/months of below freezing temps, with solid snow etc.
