V Power petrol

I've been recommended to use only Shell V Power (or its equivalent) in the car. Just wanted to gauge your feedback and thoughts on that recommendation. Ta for your input.

Because it's only 5% ethanol?

It can't hurt to use it. For the number of miles you will do, and the extra cost, its worth it if it prevents you from replacing just 1 pipe in the fuel system.

It doesn't have to be vpower, most of the premium fuels are only e5 instead of e10.

quite a few 90's JDM performance cars are mapped on premium petrol and so will run better on them, and should last longer as a whole - not that its easy to measure this. import h22 Preludes are one of them - yes they will run fine on standard petrol and your unlikely to notice any difference but a lot of owners wont run the risk unless desperate.

a lot of it is down to choice or best suggestion by friends/co-owners

The whole 'only run on v power' that people list in adverts is just them showing they've fallen for the advertising gimmicks.

Performance wise, you absolutely won't notice any difference as a daily driver (I never have noticed a difference on my bb4 - which I've run on a mix over the years depending on what took my fancy/wallet at the time) and tbh, barely even on a track/drag strip.
I've only ever run my BB1's (UKDM and JDM) on normal Unleaded.

Every Honda with PGM-FI is compatible with 10% ethanol (so all 4th gens are fine) so that's not a reason to use a super unleaded, either (although on the 1st gen I do need to!)

As for the quality of the fuel: BP, Esso, Shell, all have the same quality detergents in them. And Esso's super UL is the same octane rating as V Power these days, so that's not a reason to use V-Power either (you can use either).

Basically, don't worry about it. But try to avoid supermarket fuel, because that can have less high quality detergents in it and less quality in the care of the tanks.

I like the smell of v power

way too expensive - but if you can afford it....
I run manual jdm ludes on v power and the jdm 5th gen auto gets the odd tankful but mostly supermarket super 97 which is also 5% ethanol

I was only using V power for a while until I noticed it said on the cap it said to use "95 premium fuel" and the shell fuel save is 95 whereas the V power is not, its 98 or something so I stopped using it to save a few extra pounds, plus I've not noticed any difference. I occasionally just put some fuel or injector cleaner to make up for it.
