Yeah, it'll be on the old fashioned displacement determined tax. It's in the larger displacement bracket so 120'ish for six months, I've never bought a year at once so don't know how much that is, off the top of my head I think it's between 220 and 240  the exact figure will be avalable on the DVLA website, it changes slightly with each financial year ;)

Because some people can't afford to pay for 12 months in one hit... I save £20 a month to pay my road tax, every 6 months I buy it.

Such an obvious trap though. Pay more if you have less feels like rape to me.

Yeah I guess you're paying for the convenience of installments (even if it is only 2 installments..!)

I reckon vehicle licensing is reaching the point where the government should/will need to offer payment by direct debit tbh. If you look at some of the rates for large modern cars now, some of the rates are over £1k! and even at around £200 for older vehicles, that's more than some utility bills that offer payment by dd.

(Of course, they could solve all those problems by just removing vehicle licence and putting it all on petrol, which is a far simpler, more efficient and fairer way of doing it in the first place, but that's another argument...)
