Good bit of work by the RAC there.
Amazing that they had 120,000 flats where there was no spare tyre? :?

The reporter clearly falls for marketing BS easily though...
"Many cars now come with a tyre inflation kit as standard, as this saves a significant amount of weight and therefore helps overall CO2 emissions"

*cough* bollocks *cough*

We used to sell the spare space saver wheels as an optional extra if customers wanted it instead of the spray goo. Cost like £160 or something like that iirc  just get a steelie, that's what my cars all use. That way you can keep caning it, none of this space saver 'drive slow to the nearest tyre place' crap. After all what use is a spare if you still have to immediately change the tyre that's blown

I know but the point being they have stopped putting them in the new cars for the tiny extra mpg they recon there going to return lol. Load of rubbish. We have more customers complaining about it now, and buying space saver wheels.

Yeah it's just a money spinner, think how much they must save by not fitting a spare in hundreds of thousands of cars. Plus all the people who then buy a spare

But yeah, I felt like a right kebab trying to explain to customers why there was a spray can in the boot rather than a spare. It defies common sense but you still have to say otherwise to them

Amen to that. And also when they are 100 yrs old, can't see, can't hear anything and keep asking "sorry, what, what"  trying to explain to them why there is no spare can be a 20min job  , oh dear I don't know :x

my missis would have to pay an extra 5% or so on her company car tax if she wanted a space saver wheel  :?

As it is she has had two sidewall punctures and had to wait a total of 10 hours by the side of the road for assistance and both times had to be towed away to a garage that could fit a new tire. Hows that for lower carbon emissions
6th gen Prelude please Mr Honda. RWD 2.4 turbo lude.
