Im building a very fast show-car and really just want rare options for my build. Here in America, they never made a 4ws 5g.
If the units themselves are the same and its just a loom and control unit difference, then the UKDM control unit could be negated.

OH and I guess I also need the rear toe adjustment bolts too. mine got lost

Anyway, I guess my budget is somewhere around 500USD which isn't much for you guys and your bloody precious-metal backed currency!

Wow. time sure does fly. So im back at it again, and using the 4th gen 4WS harness im running into some issues. If I recall correctly, the 4/5g both use the same rear steering rack with a different control unit and different wiring harness. It would seem to me that being from a 5G it would have the provisions for 4 wheel ABS, which the 4th gen doesnt have. Mapping pinouts to retain the needed ABS for the 4WS system is proving a tad difficult. Perhaps just the loom and control unit would work to splice into the system?

thoughts?

5g 4ws info is very thin on the ground, because only the oem US 5g manual is available (so no 4ws info).

Isn't active abs only on the type s? Other than that the abs and 4ws have remained as seperate systems?

As for the 4g 4ws though, there were 2 types - for non abs cars (very rare, used rear speed sensors directly) and for abs cars (the common set up, takes speed signal from the abs unit). I'm a bit lost as to what bits you ended up buying and are trying to make work with what...

THAT is the system id be after in earnest.... This is the first im ever hearing of such a system.

Basically i have a 5G with all the 5G ABS stuff, and am trying to make the 4G 4WS work on it. Using the harness from the 4th gen, it wants to plug into the 4th gen ABS computer, which i dont have and wouldnt want to use since its single channel rear ABS modulation, and isnt as fast modulation wise as the 5G ABS.

It would stand to reason that the USDM and EUDM 5G use the same ABS computer and harnessing while the EUDM unit interfaces with the newer 5G 4WS computer in the process, so thats kind of what im after at this point. Id be very interested in other EUDM bits as well if anyone is breaking one...
