might not be enough clearance between pulley and bodywork to use this in situ

its 40mm thick
i guess you could bash the bodywork a bit and hammer it in there
or grind down the face of the nut

happy to post it off to anyone who needs a loan of it :)

There was a special club tool that was made up for this job on LB or PUK wasn't there? Where is that now? (or is that the one that Vanzep has? )

@fweakyg

Here's the original PUK one built by Si and someone else???

[Crocodile Dundee voice] @vanzep you call THAT a crank pulley tool, THIS is a crank pulley tool:

It's about 15-20mm thick and heavy as hell! It's long enough that it just locks against the floor so nothing to hold, just concentrate on the pulley bolt, long leverage resting on a couple of axle stands to clear the arches and get someone with some decent build who can whip up enough torque. Kat, you must know too many skinny runts! : lol:

You can borrow it but it may cost a bit to post, you back in Bristol at any point?

And to help you out, here's a good guide that I'm hosting which is in my build thread:

Let me know. ;)

hahahahah you boys and your BIG TOOLS .. you deffo know how to please me ;) Funny enough my Brother is going down to Bristol today Nucle, i think he will be there for a couple of days.. would it be ok if you can pass it to him to bring up to me ? Theeennn My other Brother ( who lives in Bristol ) is coming up for the weekend Easter BH. So he can then return the tool to you when he goes back down to Bristol ? Does that sound like a plan ? I really miss Bristol at these times, Being stuck up in the hills can get mighty frustrating when all you need is a big tool to do the job

OOMMFFRIGGINNGGGOD !!! Ive only managed to bloody get that bolt open !! Should I close the bolt back with the impact gun or will that bee toooooo much torque on the bolt ? I just managed to get the new pulley on with a tiny bit of sanding in the middle of the new pulley as it wasn't quite going on !

I think its about 180ft/lbs of torque to do it up - you would need to check in the manual.
To do the bolt up you really need something more than an impact gun ;)

I take it you have put a new woodruff key in with the new pulley?

Nope I didn't put a new woodruff key as no one mentioned that I should have lol !

I took the car to a friends tyre place to use his torque wrench to make sure it was tight enough and then 2 trips to the local car parts ( CES ) later to get new belts ( as the first belt he gave me was too big - no surprise with my car ) and the car is running !

BUT FOR HOW LONG !!!

Next adventure is my outer CV Joint lol ~Stay tuned
