I dont think im going to bother with a new engine, pointless when i have a working 5g with a h22a5 sitting on my drive. My car has been run 3 times once for a long period of time on the motor way when it started with the light flickering in 10sec intervals getting worst when i got home and then 2 small test runs with light not on until the car was up to temp still flickering. Whats the chances of lasting damage????
I really dont know what to do with this engine now. My guy says that as long as it is flickering on and off there is pressure and the possibility of it damaging it self is small as long as its been driven gently which it has been.
Im going to drop the oil and see what it looks like. If its got metal in it im going to start weighing up how much money i want to throw at this engine might think about going back to the 5g and taking all my parts with me and braking the bb4? He also was talking about bottom end bearings. I am just scared about what damage if any has been done. Has anyone had a oil pump failour and changed it and driven away fine???? :(

Chances are you'll be ok. As you say, check the oil and see what it's like.

If that looks ok, I'd carry on as you planned.

TBH if hes on about changing the bearings, it wont add that much to the bill, the sump will be off anyway for the oil pump

dont break the bb4, do what i did and stick the a5 in it
