Coilovers V gen

Post by Fons[DutchGuy] » Wed Jan 08, 2014 9:52 am

Yeah I want a set of those,

getting a set the next pay-day (if my 3 months ago promised promotion finally shows up on my bank account  ).
I'm most interested in Tein Basics budget wise.
I've found american dealers selling them new for 600 to 650 dollars (that's less then 500 euros or 400 GBP) with free shipping within the U.S. Problem is shipping to Europe costs around 200 dollars and than it would be just too expensive...
So anyone around here knows a dealer or got some laying around for that money including shipping, wouldn't mind other, at least as good as Tein, or second hand but needs to be in mint condition.

Thanks in advanced :D

Ps. sorry if I'm asking for the impossible

It is unlikely you will find a 2nd hand set of Tein Basics that are in mint condition. One of the biggest downsides of that coilover is that the green paint always comes off. I have Tein Basic's on both my Ludes but if I were getting a different set it would be the BC Racing / D2 or similar. But whatever you want, if it has to be in mint condition, you are going to have a difficult time IMO unless you are looking to buy brand new.

brazier has a set of new BC's for sale atm, IIRC?
And there's a set of nearly new coilovers off a 4th gen breaker available atm too, IIRC?

Mint condition maybe wasn't the right word  , maybe mechanical in perfect condition is a better way of saying it. To be quit honest I don't care about some road dirt or paint falling of as long as there isn't rust everywhere or oil leaking out of them I'm pretty much fine.

I can only assume that you would only say that if 4th gen coilovers are interchangeable with 5th gens without to much hassle. :?:

Yeah they're interchangeable without any issues ;) my aftermarket setup came off a 4G and my OEM 5G set went on another 4G.

Awesome, good to know makes it easier to search than. does this also count for strut braces (except for the type-s)?

Rear strut braces yes, but the track is wider on the front of the 5G so no for fronts. I think there has been some debate over this with adjustable braces but if it's one like the Spoon or Neuspeed brace then no.

TypeS brace will fit on any 5G providing you have either the TypeS top hats or IIRC some coilovers come with the additional points you need. Someone else may need to chip in on that one though.
