Once because I wanted it and secondly after euro meet. If I had to I would do it again

Re: Your point of view / advice please?
Cheers for all this, I really like the shape, Red was the colour for this shape back in the day, due to no MOT I've not had the chance to drive it, it does keep whispering to me to save it. I'll PM about the wheels and wing. If the weather holds out today, I'll get the bumpers and skirts off and see how bad the rot is. If it's saveable, it may have to endure a rattle can respray until funds allow. I have another long term project (not rice) that has been re done in various guises since 04, so I know about blood, sweat and tears
.
I'll post some pictures.
I'll also try to help out with what ever knowledge / service tips I can. (Really not looking forward to the ALB hose, I seem to remember they were a ba*tard...)
Cheers

You don't really need to take the rear bumper off, the rot tends to stick to the areas of the rear arch that you can see with the bumper still in place.
Taking the sill covers off is a good plan though, to check what they're like at the back - nb: cebul can get replacement sill panels too

ALB hose? You've not mentioned that before? What hose is that?Prelude999 wrote:(Really not looking forward to the ALB hose, I seem to remember they were a ba*tard...)

ALB hose connects the ALB pump and resivoir together. Have a look down better the back of the cam cover in front of the passenger, you'll see a flexible brake hose, that be it. You'll need to depressurise the system, then bleed when done, special tools needed. (An arse to change)

Re: Your point of view / advice please?
Here we go...
After removing the sills and bumpers, I have a list of things that need to be done... Rear arches (front and back) and the back of the sills are completely shot. The leading edge of the bonnet has rotted to the point that the inner and outer are no longer connected, and the bottom of the passenger door has gone. Oh and the where the boot catch sits is starting to rot.
I decided to run her up until the fans cut in to see if everything was ok, after putting 2.5L of oil into it (seemed a little tappaty), everything thing ran well, but the temperature gauge didn't read. It lights up. Does anyone know which sender operates the gauge?
I'll get a quote for the body repair and decide whether she lives or not... (after sitting in there waiting for it to warm up, adjusting the seating and steering wheel, getting the radio set up makes me want to keep it... argh! bloody cars, nearly as bad as women!)

If I could figure out how to put pictures on, I would!
