Re: Bills lude
No have not unfortunately, apart from the chips on the front lip the paintwork was almost perfect. Its so infuriating, worse thing is I stopped parking near the front doors of the shops when I first got it and after a while just stopped and within two weeks this happens. I think from now on I'll be parking at the furthest away spot from the shop. Either that or in the parent and child spots...wurlycorner wrote:Smart looking lude.
Provided it's all as per the oem installation, the number plate holder comes off without leaving any holes on the bumper.
Look up underneath the back of the plastic number plate holder (if that makes sense?) and you'll see the heads of 2 bolts looking down at you. Undo them (be careful, possibly seized and the clips will therefore possibly tear out of the number plate holder) and the number plate holder comes off the bumper, complete with the number plate. Provided no-one's bodged anything, that is it and there will be no holes showing on the bumper. Likely to be scratches in the paint though, where the holder has been rubbing against the bumper.
If someone's used normal screws to fix the plate to the number plate holder, it's possible they'll have screwed right through into the bumper and that will leave you with a couple of holes to repair.
EDIT: Arrrggghhh:facepalm: that damage to the rear quarter is an arse! Have you got the culprit's details to make them pay?
I'm guessing there is no easy fix for the panel then?
On ma way outside now to investigate the numberplate and hopefully have the square plate attached by the end of the day.

You are correct it looks like an OEM install as its clipped to the bumper leaving no holes but for some reason, randomly there are two small holes in the bumper not from screws and they play no part in holding the numberplate in place so I have no idea why they are there.
It doesn't look like I could do it without removing the front bumper first, the bolts are rusted and I can't reach the nut cos of the angle it sits.

They can be reached ok with a socket set and extension on a lude with the oem lip, but just realised you have the euro lip, which protrudes out the front of the bumper, so yep, that will make life a bit more difficult for this jobbill wrote:It doesn't look like I could do it without removing the front bumper first, the bolts are rusted and I can't reach the nut cos of the angle it sits.

Yeah, that can be repaired without too much bother by the looks.bill wrote:I'm guessing there is no easy fix for the panel then?
A bodyshop could do that without having to strip any of the interior out (tack weld a slide hammer to it wherever necessary to pull it out a bit and then fill/paint over the top etc.)

Re: Bills lude
OK been out and checked again looks like if I get a decent socket set I should be able to do this. No doubt I'll get one side easy enough and the other will be a b*tch. Would their be any harm in leaving the two wee holes the way they are after moving the numberplate? I ask cos I've seen a couple o ludes with the same thing done and the holes just left as is

yeah i wouldnt worry about a couple of small holes on the front bumper
you probably wont be able to see them as its a dark blue bumper.
great colour by the way - there was another 4th gen this colour that was scrapped recently in Dalkeith - you might be able to get the passenger door from it and save on paint - depends where you stay if this will be an option for you,
