Hello vanzep,

I have just got my act together and joined the forum, I have a 4th Gen myself and a short while ago I got my hands on a non running (at the moment) BB1 for spares etc with the same colour interior as your one. I am in sunny Glasgow and would be willing to let you have a look at it and see if there is anything you need that can help you out. :)

Maintenance and New Sunroof

Post by vanzep » Sun Jan 17, 2016 4:41 pm

Its been a bit of struggle getting some of the smaller jobs done but needed to press on despite the weather and get the lude leak free.
Jobs done since MOT:

replaced drivers window control switch
fit ukdm bumper and ukdm stanley fog light to bumper
take up boot seal, clean and stick back down
strip down and paint new sunroof panel
removed rusty old sunroof and fit new one
fix two cigarette burns on carpet at drivers door
replaced driver side rear light as one of the bolts had sheared off
fit new gaskets to both rear lights
refit trim and ducting under steering wheel
check battery, alternator output and clean battery terminals
dynax s-50 rear arches both sides
fit new lower rear windscreen seal
drained off excess power steering fluid as it had been filled right up to the top way past the max limit - colour is brown with reddish tint so looks like the fluid needs replaced

Jobs still to do:

Front brake discs and pads - have these here
Change PS Fluid - need to buy some from Honda
Need underbonnet rubber seal strip as this is missing
Find and fit set of door speakers and rear parcel shelf speakers
DSP units should arrive next week so fit and test

Pleased that i managed to swap the sunroof over today :) but dissapointed with colour match and finish on the new panel
Couple of pics of the old and new.

old headliner - shows how leaky the sunroof was  funny how it has leaked where there were shims fitted-the one corner that didnt leak didnt have any shims
Image

rusty patches on old sunroof - you could hear scabs of rust falling into the car when i removed it :x

New panel in place - good fit and didnt use any shims.
I left the liner off so i can check/double check for leaks over the next few days.

Made a mess of fitting the sunroof liner yesterday
going to have another go today and also planning to fit new front brakes and pads
(Pagid Disks and Red Stuff or OEM pads not decided)
These were origianally intended for the BB4 for track outing at knockhill but needs must :)

Also ordered up a new battery from Honda.
Part number 31500-SP0-031-HE
(Price £36.99 plus vat )
and two litres of power steering fluid.

Decided to stick with OEM pads for the BB1 and keep the red stuff ones for the BB4.

Picked up new battery from Honda 31500-SP0-031-HE.
Got a good deal on it (trade price £36.99+vat)

Fitted-with refurbed tie down and new hooks

Also picked up two litres of PS fluid as fluid is manky brown - i think it may have been topped up with old engine oil or something equally nasty. so also got a spare ps resevoir and pipes in case i feel the need to change them over due to contamination.

DSP units also arrived today all the way from New Zealand
Image

Cant wait to get the DSP fitted but first i need to find a set of front and back speakers :? Ive got good quality kenwoods in the BB4 so they might get swapped over
Got stung for import vat and customs clearance

Also fixed a couple of things in the engine bay:
Clamp holding air intake to intake mani had not been tightened up and aircon fan connector was unplugged - both sorted :)

cheers @Pushki its a perfect fit :)
I also noticed one of the small pipes that goes round the plastic cover from the air meter box to the resonator was wrongly routed and trapped beneath the battery so that has been clipped back into place out of harms way.
I do like that attention to detail stuff. ;)
