Re: Blue Beauty from Malaysia
You know what? You guys are just the most incredible group of people I've ever come across.
Ever since joining this site I have felt welcome and every single question or issue (no matter how trivial or badly described to you) that I've posted has been answered carefully, courteously and never with a sneer or a "sort it out yourself" type of response.
Really, I feel a part of this Prelude family and although I'm on t'other side of the world, I feel that you're the sort of decent, open-minded people who can be relied upon, no matter what.
I really appreciate everything you guys have said to help me and (as Doggo just said) to help keep me pecker up.
Just wanted to put my thoughts on record and also send my most sincere thanks to all of you for your continued support and generosity.

Re: Blue Beauty from Malaysia
Good morning gentlemen and here's the news on my exhaust temp light.
As the brake warning lamp came on this morning (unbelievable) I went to a local Honda garage to get bulbs.
Of course, nothing in stock so that's another bloody frustration. However, I got chatting to one of the more intelligent blokes there and I told him about the orange warning light. He kindly put it up on the ramp and we discovered something rather interesting.
(Unfortunately I had neither my phone nor my camera) but what we saw was that in a recess of metal running parallel with the exhaust was a sensor just sitting there, unfastened and obviously disconnected. He told me that that new piece of exhaust fitted at that point is where it should be screwed in. The tube is completely smooth and has no pre-drilled holes for it.
Below I've included a pic I sourced from google of what the sensor thing looked like as well as another shot of the loose sensor that they applied cable ties to stop it banging and rattling around. While I was under the car back at my house I also took a forward facing shot of another sensor that is plugged in much further forward.
Here they are:
What the sensor kind of looked like...

Here's the 'tray" where we've cable tied the sensor parallel to the exhaust. (new tube can be seen bottom background)

And here's t'other sensor more to the front of the car.

So here I am again begging for help.
1: Do I go back to the exhaust place and get them to drill a hole and screw it in?
2: Do I go back to the exhaust place and get them to retro-fit a Honda exhaust part with the hole already in?
3: Go somewhere else and get it sorted?
4: Throw myself off a cliff?
Any advice is welcome chaps. Thanks so much.

The first sensor you found, is the cat over temp sensor.
You have a de-cat pipe fitted (no cat anymore) so there is no-where for the cat over temp sensor to be fitted and it is redundant anyway, because there is no cat to monitor.
You need to cut the sensor off and earth the wire to the chassis as in the photo's I posted the other day. That will stop your cat over temp light from coming on.
The other sensor further forward is the lambda sensor. That's where it should be and is perfectly normal (although they normally sit on the top of the exhaust rather the side, to protect them).
The Honda mechanic should have known all of this, it's basic modern car stuff, not something that's specific to preludes!

Re: Blue Beauty from Malaysia
Hi Iain, just so that I am 100% on this. The sensor 'further back', the one that is disconnected, is redundant and all I have to do is earth the wires from it to the car. Will that then switch off the orange light?
I appreciate I'm repeating you but I just want to be 100% about this.
If I follow your direction to the letter all will be well?
And to follow up on your point Iain, why were they sending me on another bloody wild goose chase for no apparent reason? This is exactly why I'm having all this bother. The ethic here is not "how well can I do it?", more of "what can I do to get away with it?"
I'm am so grateful to you Iain.

Cheers matey. Right, armed with this AND pictures, I'll take the car down and stand there and watch them do it.
Big thanks guys.
