Re: Petee's Lude 4th Gen H23
Okay so slight issue which could delay a few wanted mods...
Seems I have an issue with my clutch. When you press on the clutch you get no resistance until the very bottom, feels like I could have a leak somewhere in he system causing this issue? Was fine Tuesday night, Wednesday noticed it a bit then today couldn't even get it into gear when engine was on.
Taking it into Honda tomorrow to sort it out, hopefully nothing too major.
Anyone else experienced this?
I guess it could be expected from a 20 year old car....

Clutch fluid probably low.
Check the level in the clutch reservoir (small reservoir next to the brake fluid reservoir).
If it's low, top it up and follow the pipework that runs from it and check for leaks on all the equipment you come across.
It should really be bled after needing to be topped up, but it would get you out of trouble just to top it up, for now.

Re: Petee's Lude 4th Gen H23
Bingo! Clutch fluid was extremely low, mainly due to leaks from the master and slave. Got the parts ordered to replace and getting it sorted Tuesday. Currently got the quick fix if the reservoir being topped up for now.
But on the plus side the Honda guys did comment on how clean and tidy she was for an older car. Also said they don't see many... The 3 NSX's they had in are apparently more common there!?!?
Impressed at the low mileage as well.

Re: Petee's Lude 4th Gen H23
So my car is now all sorted thankfully. Bit of a bill but I would wanted to ensure it was done properly and I have a good relationship with the guys at Norton Way Honda.
So I am now back looking at mods I can do, and am taking a keen interest in swapping out the steering wheel. I think the existing one really shows the age of the car... So I am looking at getting a deep dish suede finish wheel. Ideally something similar to the one in the Mclaren Honda F1 car that Senna used to drive.
Has anyone seen anything similar? Or what are the prefered swaps?

Re: Petee's Lude 4th Gen H23
Minor update.
Looking to get a few bits sorted before JAE. Needing some new rear break pads so this is my job for the weekend replacing these. Used a company called GFS for the first time and got some really good service and price as well. While I am doing this I am also going to sort the driver door clunk out hopefully, as I am to have the interior on show at JAE as it is extremely tidy.
Once that is done I am going to be putting some elbow grease into getting the engine bay sparkling, so I can confuse people by showing off a Honda engine with no Vtec.
I also have the car booked in for an underseal on Saturday. This is the first step in restoring her back to her full glory. Once this is done I am sending her to the body shop to get a full respray and any rust/bubbling sorted.

Re: Petee's Lude 4th Gen H23
Had a nice little busy weekend on my car, and my pals Alfa GTV6.
Got my car fully undersealed to help protect it, had already been done before by a previous owner though I couldn't find a receipt for it.
Once that was done, it was a little trip down the road to my mates to start polybushing the Alfa. After several hours and swear words we made some healthy progress. I then returned the next day to swap out my rear brake pads as they were getting worn.
I also managed to remove and refurb my wiper blade arms, as although this had been done before it was not a very well done refurb (looks like they had used a paint brush, heavy paint stroke visible.
)
Going to sort some pictures out tonight to show off the work.
I was pretty pleased with myself as having not done either of these jobs before I was concerned. Thankfully though it all worked out.

Re: Petee's Lude 4th Gen H23
Time for some pictures. Finally....
So Lude in for the underseal:

Was tempted to dodgy photoshop this so it look like my car is floating. Haha

Small bits of light rust, but nothing major

So that was money well spent. She is now protected.
Then moving onto the rear brake pad swap.
Old Vs. New

It was surprisingly easy to swap these out. Literally 4 bolts, and the a small clean. Use a tool to compress the valve back. Slip new brakes in and then reverse everything you did. Easy.

Said tool...

The brakes need some proper talc to get them looking new again. Going to get some new discs soon and braided lines, then remove it them all and refurb them from the ground up. Aiming for next month once my new job is out the way.
I also refurbished the wiper blade arms. Again easy job, but makes a big difference to the cars look overall.

I made the error on using a high grade sand paper to try to take it back to metal. After a good hour and a half I had achieved this...

However a trip to my mates, minus the arms on my car. (More aerodynamic... Haha
)

Primed and painted. And back on.

Very pic heavy. Wooh

Re: Petee's Lude 4th Gen H23
And today, I am giving the old gal a clean ready for JAE. And everyone's keen eye....
I hate stickers on body work, so difficult to get off sometimes.

Nice shine already after the clay bar. No polish or wax on yet.

And just after the polish has been buffed.

Still need to dress the tyres, clean the engine bay and interior a bit. Then wax her and she's all good to go.
