Re: BB4 some new pics with mb6 wheels

Post by vanzep » Tue Aug 06, 2013 9:55 am

well it did rain but not much and i did the underseal from the pit at my folks place so wasnt too bad - got covered in the underseal stuff and as usual the nozzle in the cans get blocked - what a pain :x but at least its done. I used sikaflex marine grade sealant on the patches where the underseal from the factory had rubbed off.

the fact that the mb6 wheels are handed really doesnt bother me - although it does beg the question why they would do that - answer must be cost. so far theres been no problem, with ground clearance :)
The PIAA's have a leak in one of the rims and the tyres on them are old so they need split and reseal them and fit some new tyres - so unfortunately this makes them a long term project so probably wont have them back on until next summer.
I will be running my other set of mb6 wheels (16" oz polaris/oem) through the winter.

Damn! That flywheel came up good 8-) It looked nothing like that when I gave it to you. Did the machinists shot blast it or something? Is the face nice and smooth and level now?

I cant wait to see how bad the scorch marks are on your current one.

no i was going to get it shotblasted but didnt want to start pitting the metal too much so i just cleaned it up myself - using the tried and tested 4 step cleaning method :D mainly used a suede shoe brush as i have an abundance of them - the ex must have got one for every pair of shoes she bought suede or not

The face is smooth and level - looks like they have done a good job there were 3 scorch marks on this one and uneven wear.
Im expecting to see the same when the old flywheel comes off.

Re: BB4 ATR flywheel skimmed and ready

Well spent 10 hours today getting the new atr clutch kit fitted and atr skimmed flywheel on - also fitted the last two polyfilled mounts.
Most of the work was done by @3rd gen steve and @Doggo and @Merlin also helped out. So many thanks guys - much appreciated :) So now thats all the big jobs done on my lude.
The new atr clutch feels light but solid if that makes sense -
The down side is the engine management light has come on - think this is related to the vss or the convertor chip which is wired in just before the vss. one of the connections got broken when removing the gearbox but it was resoldered but as the speedo isnt working now im hoping it just a loose connection.

Sorry no pics

Nice one, must feel great to have got to the end of the big jobs list?

Noticed any other change in how it drives, at all?

Re: BB4 ATR clutch and flywheel & UKDM EL dials

Post by vanzep » Sun Sep 01, 2013 11:21 pm

Well im glad to report the niggles have all been sorted out The problem was with a loose connection in the connector on the VSS. So we just cut out the convertor chip and resoldered the wires and fixed the loose connection in the connector , removed the ECU fuse to clear the CEL light and fitted the UKDM EL dials and the speedo works and reads in MPH , 1 have vtec in first and i presume no limiter in place.. all the hard work on the car looks like its paid off = its now tight and super smooth - the atr clutch and flywheel feels great and almost like it has a lightened flywheel:lol: I dsont hink the ATR flywheel is any lighter than the Prelude one but i might be wrong.
I like the look of the UKDM EL dials - theyre better than the plain jane JDM ones ;)

Yep im well pleased :)
even the poly engine mounts have made a positive improvement

That's the setup I have Nick, JDM engine and ECU, no converter, UKDM EL dials. 8-)
