I knew I've had an oil leak for ages.
I thought it was the rocker cover gasket. but I've had that done now. I think its leaking from a few places tbh

Marts lude - Suspension strip down - Part 1

Post by mart609 » Mon Jul 29, 2013 8:57 am

Time to start updating my profile as and when I do stuff now. Going to clean the garage out soon and list all the stuff I have waiting to fit. Might get pushed by you guys to get some of the stuff fitted quicker

So most of last week was spent down my moms house stripping the rear subframe from the old tracklude.
I had an hour or so after work each night slightly making progress. I didn't take many pics.
I was too busy swearing, hammering, grinding & sawing.

Some of it came apart without much trouble actually . But not these

They were properly seized. I'm still yet to remove the one. I'm going to take the grinder to it at a later date.

Other than that. All the split pins refused to come out so I ened up snapping them off and just undoing the nut

Heres a pic of most of the stuff That was taken off.

I will try to take more pics from now on and update a bit better 8-)

Good work bud, a $hitty job I know, but that's the hard part over. Now you just have to remove the old bushes and fit the new ones. :?

Have you fitted the hub and steering wheel yet? Need your old wiring loom from the hub cable reel to the SRS harness as soon as you can bud. :geek:

Yeah I had to take the angle grinder to a few of the bolts on the subframe to get my stuff apart. Good luck in getting the old bushes out, your will need it :D

Mart, did your 4WS work ok before you took it off?
Thinking maybe it'd be worth my time getting hold of an unwanted 4WS subframe/motor unit to have as a spare for a rainy day (since I'm keeping 4ws on my 2 ludes) :?

Are you looking to get rid? Want anything for it? Going to the national meet?

Polybushing is win, I loved the results. Really helps the planted feel of the car and the feedback. Actually felt better damped too 8-)
