Bummer.
Hope it's nothing more serious than valve clearances.

If things go to plan, you might have a spare engine next weekend though ;)

MOT passed

Post by si import » Tue Aug 30, 2016 11:49 am

Mot'd for another year 8-) . Flew through as usual . 1600 miles since last year .
Image
Took it out for a spin saturday nite as not really driven it apart from to and from santapod and trackdays. Thought the brakes felt abit spongy but they do sometimes . It's not so nice to drive on the road anymore after having it set up for the track but I still enjoyed the drive .
Image
anyway Sunday I thought I'd take the wheels off clean them and bleed the brakes . Took the drivers front wheel off and it was covered in brake fluid on the inside . Took a look at the caliper and it was dripping out the bottom piston so took it apart couldn't see any reasons for it to be leaking so just ordered rebuilt kit with new pistons aswell. That should be here tomorrow . Apart from that all good

Also now has a 6 puk act clutch and had to swap the gearbox out for another one as it kept getting stuck in reverse and jumping out of 1st and 2nd gear

Just had to look back as couldn't remember what it was. I got another compression tester and got more accurate readings but a couple were still a little low . I did the valve clearances there was an improvement but wasn't great . I had started using a different oil just before that trackday that I had problems so I switched back to castrol magnatec and since then it has been running fine . Think maybe that oil couldn't cope
