Re: 1992 bb1 si-vtec jdm import, Electrical testing

Post by GJMHONDA2012 » Sun Oct 11, 2015 10:22 pm

done a resistance test on tps today as it was coming up with a tps fault on the paperclip test, continuity is good but it does not go up to 5v it only goes up to 3.76 when throttle is fully opened and it's at 0.41 when its fully closed so I guess the tps is goosed
Plus I done a voltage test on battery the battery is only 8 months old so it wouldn't be that when I first tested it it was only at 10.18v then started it it went up to 11.20 then up to 12.19 then when I put the lights on it went down to 12.05 could this be the alternator on its way out

IMO, don't read the 0.41 as the tps being faulty when off - that's just as easily stray current and multimeter accuracy.

Were you testing the tps as per the manual? (i.e. at exactly the point in the circuit where it told you to test it?)

And were you testing it with the engine running or just off the battery? If your battery voltage was low (which 10v is) then your readings from the tps will also be low anyway.
