1995 White BB4 Si Vtec - starting to update the profile...
After seeing this linked off the forum by Drax (thanks mate! ) and only being 20 miles away, I had to go and see it.
The dangerous thing with (nearly) having storage sorted, is that it just encourages you to buy more cars...
The plan was to buy it, take some bits off it (skirts, rear bumper with corner lights, spats and interior out) to go on Lisa's, revert this to standard using the bits off hers (re-sprayed white, naturally) and sell it back on - I am NOT breaking a lude that doesn't need to be! As usual once you get hold of a car though, I start getting attached to it and before we'd even left the sellers house with it, Lisa said "I want to keep it" Great influence!
1995 BB4, so 2ws, no sunroof, no ABS but does have air-con. V5 has it registered as a 2.0 and it's a Cat C from 2011.
So the good;
Very low mileage
It was about 50k when it was imported from what I can work out, so it's done around 60,000 miles all in. Engine starts, sounds and runs sweet to match, with no smoke in vtec.
Wind deflectors and door seals are in great nick, both sides;
It has a sun strip tinted windscreen, which is unusual I think? Don't think I've seen one before?
It is oem glass though;
The windscreen has some kind of electrodes stuck to the screen, behind the visors. Not sure what these are for? Some kind of aerial or de-mister? Can't see them connected to anything though
Original stickers and LSD box
More jap stickers than you can shake a stick at
Mugen sides in great nick, look genuine to me/not stuck over the original oem sills.
Azect spats and rear side marker lights;
Lenzo RS5's (thanks to google I now know what they are ) in pretty good nick;
Also has uprated front discs (it does stop well from the front);
Keyless unlocking (no original key included though )
Monster sized tailpipie/back box of some sort (need to investigate further to see what it has, know it still has oem manifold/downpipe/cat fitted though)
It has this little box behind the bumper;
And these;
Which means it does this;
Facelift dash/interior;
Marmite red/black interior (Lisa and I are both in the 'like camp)
It's in fair condition, no rips/tears
But grubby and the drivers seat and door card does have wear (it's not a hard wearing fabric at all)
We'll see how well it cleans up...
Engine bay not too shabby, interestingly looks to have an oem H23a rocker cover fitted?
Matching front/rear strut brace (don't know the brand, are they any good, or ebay specials?)
Rear arches have no rust in this usual spot;
And overall, the paintwork looks great. Couple of stone chips on the bonnet a bit of blistering on the spoiler but otherwise
Driving wise, it stops straight but pulls left otherwise (i.e. coast/acceleration)
My first time driving a BB4 vs a BB1. You can definitely tell it's the 'lightweight' (not pauper spec) model but tbh I prefer 4WS. Turning circle on it is shocking in comparison!
It goes well, vtec seems to come in very aggressively in comparison to my UKDM.

Re: 1995 White BB4 Si Vtec
And next, the bad/not so good...
Passenger front tyre/rim cut/dented;
A/C control has crack and impact damage somehow
After market steering wheel does actually feel really good, but not sure on the wood effect, at all...
Some muppet has tried to get into it with a crow bar before now I think;
I peeled the seal back when I was at the sellers, no damage done to the door or the shell really, although the lip that the seal fits on is a bit rippled from where it had been bent and not analy properly straightened after. What looks like filler/primer etc on the outside isn't, it's dirt.
Rear screen tint has bubbled all over, so you can see drokk all out the back
Also has some very badly installed 6x9's from a previous ICE install;
What the drokk is carrozzeria when it's at home? That branding is stuck over the front tweeter covers too, but it's actually a pioneer changer? Is that some kind of gathers re-branding type thing?
Pass side door handle trim is broken;
Drivers (outside) door handle isn't properly fitted so the bottom of it is loose door card off just to fix that annoying thing.
Don't know what's going on here with the headlights?;
Same side one has condensation inside;
Usual cam seal/vtec solenoid seal leak;
Wrong size battery
Which also died immediately after agreeing to buy the car!
And crappy air filter that needs to be changed asap.
Rear brakes have usual seizing issues (this is the better side) but just passed an MOT with no advisories???
Annoying dent in the top of the passenger door (very hard to photograph)
Someone's hacked the fog light fixings and other bits in that area out of the front bumper both sides
My initial thought was that this was for a previous intercooler install???
Usual crap condition rear window trim and wiper;
And door top trims;
Paint scuffed on the edge of the roof gutter here;
Massive chrome aftermarket Honda badge on the back ;
Nice install on the rear fog light
I actually like the look of it though it reminds me of an FIA reg fog light stylee jobber
Lexarse rear lights, which I normally hate, but tbh these are actually quite smart looking. Not sure if they'll stay or I'll refite oem or the black tinted ones I got from Jon (my money on the latter atm)
So why is it a cat c? Well it's difficult to be sure... It's straight all over with the exception of the front, where it has definitely had a tap before;
It doesn't line up properly all over the front bumper/headlights/nostrils;
t's had at least one new headlight (off a red car) and something about the slam panel/lower sub-frame isn't square. Check the angle of the rad bracket on this side (new rad this year, btw);
But the slam panel is original/doesn't look bent or re-sprayed and the bonnet/wing line up is fine?
There's also a later bump on the front corner of the bumper;
And the passenger door mirror had been yanked off before and refitted with cable tie, so it no longer folds;
@indigolemon will Eve be looking to yield hers perhaps?
Chrome nostrils aren't in quite as good a condition as they might at first look and don't line up properly, in common with the rest of the front end gubbins;
Oh yes, now the rust...
Annoying;
But you remember how the usual suspects, back of the arches had no rust bubbles? Unfortunately that isn't the case everywhere else on them
It's all round the inside lip of the rears (not a major problem tbh, easily enough treated) but also definitely goes into the back of the inner sills. How badly I don't know for sure with the covers on, but on the drivers side you can see evidence on the outer sill near the rear jacking point so I'm sure it will need some metal replacing there. Probably as bad as my UKDM was is my guess.

I think the real crisis is the way these shoes are laced up.
But apart from that it doesn't look like the world's worst purchase I actually like rear fogs like that. When I bumper fog delete I will probably try something similar (but obviously executed better) as I don't like the idea of the replacing a reverse light.

Carrozzeria is a bodyshop type deal. It doesn't translate well but you could think of it like that. No idea why you would call a stereo component that thoughwurlycorner wrote:What the drokk is carrozzeria when it's at home?

Re: 1995 White BB4 Si Vtec - stupid midlife crisis continues
The car was in Scotland before emigrating to Essex, incidentally...
Bathgate area IIRC?
