Re: 3rd gen love machine
Right, so pics and info then.
This is a joint venture between myself and @4thgenphil, currently residing at my barn because it needs a fair bit doing to get it drivable again, but that's not the long term plan (but shoosh, don't tell Phil's mrs!)
Second lude purchased from near Newport this year! But this one has a much brighter future planned than the last one.
It's another one that's been off the road for a number of years and was evicted from its garage home at short notice (sound familiar? ). This time a pre-facelift 2.0 16v 4ws with ALB
This one wasn't the same bargain as my one though, cost quite a bit more and needs crash damage repairing as well as the given major service. Also the brakes currently hardly work at all with a soft pedal (no apparent leaks so suspected knackered master cylinder)
Crash damage after colliding with a wall due to the brakes failing;
Power steering cooler is fine, but the rad is blown, slam panel, lower cross member and upright all knackered. Also the bonnet was dead but the seller had a replacement, so Phil and I swapped that when we picked it up.
It's been much more damp under that bonnet than mine had. I guess stored in a concrete garage rather than a wood one?
The interior is absolutely mint!
Have to say, that fabric feels gorgeous... SO soft!
Original stereo
Paint is in fantastic condition on all the original panels, plus sexy full Style Auto bodykit, lowered and larger 15" alloys and 60 profile tyres
Body is apparently in great condition
But of course, the bottom of the arches and the sills are all hidden behind that kit, so who knows for sure...
The kit was really well beautifully blended in when originally fitted, great looking job. It's been caught sometime recently and that's caused a tiny bit of lift where it folds back around the front arch on the drivers side;
But otherwise, all good! 8-
Even the corners of the sunroof rubber are in mint condition!
One of the things that made the price worth paying was the amount of spares that came with the car. Aside from the bonnet (already on the car);
Both doors and bootlid;
Both wings and splashguards and a spare rad (from a manual so no good for keeping this as an auto);
And boxes and bags of bits;
Also a boot full of trim, including 2 door panels and full set of exterior window trim;
Full set of 'Honda power' mats and seatbelt protectors (anyone know anything about these? Are they OEM or a known aftermarket brand of the time???)
And a full hard copy of the Honda service manual, which is very handy (saves having to take the laptop over every time!)

Re: 3rd gen love machine
Only unpacked one box today while I was at the barn;
But these were interesting to rifle through...
One is from this car, the other is from an H reg facelift, which is great, because that's what my other one is and I didn't have a full owners manual pack with it (until now)
This car has a FHSH until 1993 :49k miles, then nothing on file since and now on 110k.
This was nice;
How about a major service for £286 fixed price thebusofwoe?
This was new at the turn of unleaded coming in so special Honda brochure
These models were apparently ok to run on unleaded with the stated change to ignition timing;
(and btw the top models were ok to run on 2 star! who remembers going to the petrol pump and pressing the button to select which star rating of fuel you wanted??? )
So, lude ok to run on UL with no mods, but retard the ignition by 4^ and 'the only stipulation we make is to fill with 4 star every 4th tank' errr... I might struggle with that one!
Some more cool period Honda paperwork;
Massive fold out dealer network map
And on the back;
Full range

Re: 3rd gen love machine
Yep, but don't underestimate the amount of work this one needs... And honestly have no idea how good the sills or arches are underneath all thatGreg wrote:I can see why I'm having such a hard time finding one now! Looks good too...........damn
It is one heck of a sexy and cool motor though. Just couldn't let this one get away...
