Looking so good.
DIY exhaust back box repair is particularly impressive - don't know anyone else that has done that!

May I ask why the engine has been removed?
Thanks.

The Greddy EVO 2 is really good exhaust and has high volume/capacity. It's really great way to get low tone when it's packed well.

I'll post the engine status later.
In short, some stupid coincidences which led to damaged bearings, crank and fuel pump.
If everything else fails, read the manual!

So, why is the engine out…
Around August, after track day, I noticed a weird rhythmic noise, like a part of the belt would be with a defect. I went to the garage ASAP and with my mechanic friend noticed that the bolt, holding the crankshaft pulley was loose. The noise disappeared.

Around September, after 2 sessions, the noise came back, this time, the bolt was not loose…

Measured the oil pressure, it was fine when the engine was cold, but was not fine when it warmed up..

Took off the bottom and found a treasure in the oil strainer.

The oil was changed regularly and always was clean.
That was the end of the season.

Last month opened the engine up to take a deeper look at the damage:

The bearing closest to the oil pump was damaged but did not spin. All other bearings sat tight in the place.

So, the crank is repairable only to 0.25, and only one “neck” was damaged.

And I assume the issue was in the oil pump as it had scars on the wall, when the engine and oil warmed up, the pressure was too low, and here are two butts:
1. Why the VTEC still worked
2. Why did the noise disappear after tightening the pulley?

And that was not all.
Here’s the desert…
And I have no idea what caused that and is that related...

So. He’ll be ok.
I’ve ordered almost everything, except the head bolts. Mostly oem from amayama.
Head is maintained
The block will be sleeved in a few days
All new seals that I could get
New exedy clutch
Flywheel will lose few lbs
The gearbox will be ripped next month as I had some issues shifting to the 5th.
TBC..

Argh, that sucks. Glad it's repairable though.

Loose crank pulley bolt would have caused a noise (pulley wobble) that would have gone away after tightening, so I suspect the other problem hadn't started then, but started after - co-incidence that the noise sounded similar (both are bottom end related so would probably sound the same).
