The common 4WS issue was the solder joints in the ECU going dry. Removing the ECU and re-flowing the joints with fresh solder cures that. I forget what code it throws though since it was over a decade ago that most of us went through that issue, so do pull the fault code and refer to the relevant section on the forum for info before jumping in.
