Rad should be full to the brim with coolant at all times, yes.

Expansion tank should be filled half-way I think. That's where I tend to fill it to, anyway. It'll probably find its own level, just monitor it till you understand where it likes to sit. I have 2x 4th gens and they sit at different expansion tank levels (with both being very happy).

:? that sounds right on what type of bulbs, but not 100% sure. Someone like @pushki is probably the font on those matters?

Exactly this. Well I do anyways.

With the engine cold, I always fill both and give the top and bottom hoses a good squeeze to push as much air out as poss. Probably don't need to do this if she has just dropped levels a bit.

Run the engine with the interior fans on max temp. Keep it running till the rad fans come on. Often takes 5 or 10 minutes. Turn her off.

Top up the expansion bottle only if you need too - DON'T OPEN THE RAD when she's hot.

Take her for a spin.

Next day or when cold, check both levels and top up.

I used to think that, too, until I discovered that H22 engines can blow a gasket without getting an oil/water mix. The tell-tale then is gas in the overflow bottle, particularly when the engine's warm.

This is an f20... :hurr:

Anyway, yes that is also possible, but you'd get the rad over pressuring because of exhaust gasses being pushed into it, under pressure and he isn't getting over pressure there, so it seems.

Honestly baz, just follow the basic maintenance checks we've suggested (check for leaks, fully fill and bleed the system, then monitor the level while you get used to the car), stop worrying and enjoy the thing :D

Your coolant issues sound normal to me (Iwent through very similar, turned out to be water pump but that makes itself obvious with a constant drip when the engine is running) but please, please don't tar Honda with the Peugeot brush :bat:
