Nope - perfectly valid suggestion Doggo, that a faulty thermostat could cause high temps.

It's unlikely to cause a heater problem though, as the coolant still circulates through the heater matrix when the thermostat is closed. (It would need something like the heater matrix to be clogged up/heater control flap to be broken stuck in the cold position as well to give both symptoms)

You can buy the whole lot as a kit on Ebay for £18. True it isnt Honda OEM but I personally wouldnt be concerned about that, I bought one.

The Honda prices were from a couple of years ago. Possibly a bit more now.

It's important to torque the rocker cover bolts evenly when refitting.
Oh thats not too bad. the prices for the spark plugs, was that £12 for a set of 4, or £12 each?, and any specifics on the liquid gasket used?

And i will make sure i dont overtighten, gotta lad whos a tank mechanic offering to give me a hand, make sure we take the softly gently approach! :D

Seriously guys, thanks for allowing me into this temple of knowledge haha! :ugeek:

EDIT - Any links to this kit merlin? if they are still about! EDIT EDIT - Actually, im just being lazy. about 2 seconds of ebaying found me this - good choice?

Yes. :D

I'm sure the eBay gasket set is fine to use if you're on a budget. :geek:

i Will :P

just to literally rip from a link posted relevant to my issues:
grab a funnel and place it in the radiator fill hole.

Fill your radiator at a rate of no more than:
{ 1 L/min. \ 1.1 US qt./min. \ 0.9 Imp. qt./min. }.

Continue the filling process until the coolant reaches the bottom of the fill neck. Now fill the radiator reservoir to the full mark.

With the radiator fill cap still off, start the car and allow it to idle. As the engine runs, continue to add coolant as air escapes the engine and cooling system.

As you top up the radiator, be sure to "burp" the cooling system by firmly squeezing the radiator hoses (both upper and lower). Continue to squeeze and release the hoses to help push any errant air bubbles out of the system.
Once you are unable to fill the radiator any further, replace the radiator fill cap and stop the engine - you are finished.
So, in terms of topping up my coolant and bleeding any air out, i want to fill the rad, then the res, then leave the rad cap off whilst running the engine, burping along the way! sound about right?

Sounds about right, but don't forget to use the bleed nipple.
Your heater should also be set to max. Run up to temp' until the radiator fan kicks in. :ugeek:

Be careful when squeezing the hoses with the rad cap off = Hot Water Volcano!! :o
