Well, continued to work on sorting the cooling system today, realised it looks like im leaking coolant from the bottom of the rad! might explain why i was having overheating issues! also seemed super empty, so might have to look at replacing that. on the positive side, the prelude mk4 rad has to look like the easiest to replace rad ive seen in a while (compared my mk4 golf that required the whole front bumper off!!!) Might try some Radweld just to see quite how buggered it is.

seemed that just adding a couple of liters to the coolant system actually alleviated my hunting idle issue for about 20 mins after ignition (rather than almost immediatley) so im hoping that once its all bled and working properly, it will sort some issues!!

I wouldnt put that in my car. You can get new Honda/Rover rads for very cheap http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HONDA-ACCORD- ... 3f1d34d198 I have that in my 4th gen track car and cannot fault it ;)

i did see this and thought tbh ill probably buy that as well. How am i so lucky to be finding parts this cheap? are motor spares companys starting to get rid of prelude stock? (mind you it is like, a 20 year old iteration)

Gave the car a run today after adding a bit more coolant.......... this might be a bit of a waste of time!

Without sounding like a complete tool, could i be leaking from the Aircon Condenser too? i seem to have liquid pools around that area and i dont know how it integrates into the prelude cooling system? - Pic below is taken from the front, looking at the condenser

Also, i didnt quite realise how much crap was getting kicked out the back end... this was after less than 5 mins of idling.

Not sure if this is oil, carbon, or what. also smells rich, especially so when the idles hunting.

Im getting worried.... :?

If theres a cat, its hiding in a pretty long straight pipe! :D, ok that explains it smelling a bit rich, would that explain why i got a bit more crap coming out the back, as its not getting caught in the cat? also, any way i can run it a bit leaner to stop that? feels like im literally watching plumes of money come out the back haha

There is no way to stop that mate. U are right in the fact that the cat isn't catching it obviously as its not there lol. You could get a cat or sports cat fitted as u will need a cat for mot anyways. The ac system isn't intergrated into the cooling system id imagine that from ur pics its just throwing coolant out and making u think the ac is leaking too. Sort the rad out first then look at the ac. ;)

Do you know what make exhaust that is off hand?? :)

If it's a pre 1995 BB4 import, you don't need a cat for the MOT.
It could be running rich if the lambda sensor is on its way out. :geek:

From 1993, import or uk will require a cat for mot if its fitted with one from the factory. ;)
