Hi everyone

Post by Enda » Sat Dec 12, 2015 3:07 pm

Hi all, I'm a new member and we've (mysef and my Father) embarked on restoring a 93 4th gen Preude. Its been lying up for a few years but started first time. Had to have the alternator reconditioned but other than that seems to mechanically sound.
Its a 2.2 non-vtec model , I may upgrade the engine in the future but I'm starting with the body and having the weel arches redone with the view to a respray in the new year.BTW we're based in Ireland.
One of the first issues I need to resolve is the fuel and Temp gauge are a bit dim and when you turn on the parkers they fade out completly. I don't think its as simple as a bulb, they come on at a much better brightness when the ignition first comes on.
I know its not a major issue but will bug me every time I start the car.
Any advise or insight would be great.
Thanks.

Hi Andy,

Do you know of any place over here to get bits and pieces for these cars?

Welcome.
The overly dim instrument panel could just be the dimmer control being turned down all the way?

dimmer control did cross my mind but I don't see one in the car anywhere, its a jap import, where is this control normally situated?
Its not the lights either , when you turn on the lights it fades out completly. It looks like a fault in the display itself.
When the car is first switched on the display is at a much brighter level which I assume is the normal level. It then fades to a low level after about 2 secs and when the parkers are switched it fades out complety.

Hi Enda, parts from scrappiest, Adverts.ie, DoneDeal etc, or the good people on this site!

I've a few bits spare. You dimming thing might be the dimmer control module, which is behind the dash visor on the passenger side. Just in from the tweeter.

The dimmer control knob is either just in from the of the centre box, mine is, or on the dash to the right of the steering wheel.

Where are you located?
