Hi from SE London

Post by SOLUDE » Mon Apr 03, 2017 12:31 am

Hi guys, posted a few times on the hunt for a mint 5g... Gave up, grew impatient and decided a good rather than perfect Lude would do the job and improve it as funds permit.. Think I'm now sorted unless someone has a mint gen 5 manual sub 70k miles, completely rust free they want to sell i :D Have very little/no time to do any spannering myself unfortunately so gonna have to pay for work with a trusted shop!.

Anyone know of a good independent specialist in striking distance of SE London? (London, Kent, Surrey, Essex..)
Also, (yes i know search the forum. I have and can't find recent posts with info)... Anyone know of a decent paint/body shop, area as above?
Thanks in advance for any help. I'll be back with pics and more info re the car soon ;)

Well I've collected the car and V happy... It's from a member; Toby who came to Japfest a couple of years ago with some of you.
1999 Gen 5 manual 2.2vtec in red with a grand total of just over 60k verified miles on the clock.
Few things to sort but a great base and appears to be rust free and V solid indeed..Also has strange salmon red full leather seats embroidered with Honda Sport, believe they have been in from new as this was a Honda UK car (but no one has ever seen them before!?) and was in the Honda family for the first X years of its life. I'd love to learn more about it's history.. Fair to say I'm V v happy and looking forward to driving and improving it. Im even going to sell my GT86 to spend more time with the Lude (and can't really justify it sitting around).
Will be back for advice no doubt and hope to meet some of you guys.

Welcome, agree with Wurly, looking forward to seeing some pictures. And certain jobs get on the tools yourself, it really is worth it and part of the fun with a car like a Prelude.

Will do guys, I've got a few basic pics now but need to set up a photo bucket account i guess before i can upload them. Also noticed a few small carpark dings and other bits i would like to sort. As it's red there's a bit of fading on roof and bonnet, advice is it's a respray job if i want to remedy as clear coat.. any advice welcome. Also want to clean and seal rear arches and underseal to protect from rust appearing, seems free at the moment. Want to get a good inspection of engine and ancillaries inspection by someone who really knows vtecs, just trying to find someone within striking distance of SE London/Kent.
Lastly, I'm not convinced by the Skunk 2 exhaust, too lairy and not keen on drainpipe tip... Would prefer a 2.5 pipe with freeflow but decently silenced and best would be twin tip exhaust but wild settle for single meaningful but not drainpipe exit... Oh dear, i feel lots of time and money being needed V soon. May even sell my GT86 to concentrate on this
