Well after a very brief foray into Alfa Romeo GTV owner ship which was wrote off after some nut case road raged me and then reversed into my car using his wagon as a battering ram and then drove off before I could get his reg, I'm now the very proud owner of a mint 5th Gen Prelude and I absolutely love it.
A couple of observations, are they meant to ride that low and handle like they are on rails, or I suspect mine may be lowered, as my Alfa was low and I owned a Gen7 celica before that and both were low and handled well, but this prelude i've got is in another league and its only a 2.0 vti without the 4WS..! :D


Apart from a few niggles, the front fogs don't work and after removing the switch it appears someone has bodged into the wiring at the back of the switch, but I can't see where this additional wiring is going?? I can post a pic if someone can help?

It's had an after market eonon double din head unit fitted which works when it wants too and I was wondering how easy a job is it to remove these as I have a single din Kenwood unit out of my Alfa to go in it if needs be.
And one of the rear calipers is sticking which i believe is a weak point, its got full honda main dealer service history and overall is in mint condition apart from a ding in the boot and all this for £700. Before I even joined this forum one of the members has already helped me out with some windscreen washers :D ,.....the alfa forum was about as much use a chocolate fire guard for offering help and advice and even accused me of crashing my alfa on purpose as a insurance claim!!!

That sounds terrible what happened with your Alfa! Hope you were ok out of it?

Glad you're enjoying the first of lude ownership. Yep they're great cars and handle well - an absolute bargain for what they cost to buy.

Pics would definitely help with the wiring and so we can tell if it's been lowered. :D

Rear calipers are a weak point indeed, they do tend to bind as they get on a bit. You can probably get away with just taking the caliper off, pads out, remove the pad clips wire brush everything back, re-grease and re-assemble.

And yep, there's plenty of help and advice and friendly people around on this forum, so welcome!

Thanks mate, I was ok as I was out the car, but my poor old alfa was a write off as he smashed into the rear quarter panel and boot lid, he wheel span he reversed that fast into me! :shock:

I have pictures of my car but I'm unsure how to upload them? I'll take a pic of the back of the fog light, it looks like someone has cut into what I assume is the live feeds, and then spliced in a separate wire which I'm assuming is going to the fog lights, its not major concern but I'd like to sort it if I can, the led on the switch doesn't light up either so I'm assuming there is no power going to it, so will check the fuses too.

A mate of mine had a 2.2 VTEC 5th Gen with the 4ws a few years back and I remember being impressed then when I drove it, I really impressed with mine though and for what I paid its a bloody bargain!

sure you will find the 5th gen is a lot better than the Alfa :)

The damage he did to my alfa minus its rear spoiler too as it had a full Alfa CUP Kit fitted to it..

sorry to hear about your alfa experience a lot of car forums tend to end up like that this one never has or will the guys on here will help with anything they can ( or they answer to me :lol: )
The 2.0 litre isn't a bad engine and is probably easier to enjoy at the limit than the vtec and yeah pretty much all ludes handle like they are on rails.

Thanks mate, Honestly I'm over the moon with it and especially with what I paid for it, its immaculate inside and out and best of all everything works unlke the Alfa.

A big shout out to Rob Quilter as he sent me the washer jets for a pittance as mine were a bit bunged up and now its all good. how t

Nice to a member of a forum where the members actually help each other out for a change. Still can't find how to remove the double din head unit and I've looked in the relevant forum? Can anyone post a link please?

you can remove the plastic fascia the wood trim bit if yours is wood trim it just pulls off its held by spring clips then you can access the stereo easier
